A Thriving Clean Economy for All DC

About us

We are an independent instrumentality of the District of Columbia, created by the Green Finance Authority Establishment Act of 2018, with the clear goal of accelerating a clean energy transition for DC. DC Green Bank deploys public dollars in order to mobilize private investment to deploy solar and renewable energy, increase the efficiency of buildings and systems, deliver stormwater management and green infrastructure projects, and green our transportation systems. We provide financing for every stage of projects - pre-development, construction, and permanent - to ensure that we create pathways for a more sustainable future for all. We are a catalyst for a more equitable green transition where all DC residents are recipients of the benefits of a cleaner and vibrant city. DC Green Bank seeks to be the go-to financing resource for District residents, small business owners, contractors and commercial developers interested in energy efficiency improvements, clean energy installations, and green infrastructure construction. 🚨🚨🚨As we celebrate Earth Day, we are pleased to announce that through a Department of Energy & Environment (DOEE) and DC Green Bank led, District-wide application for funds under US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)'s Solar for All Program that DC will be receiving $62.45 million to deploy solar and battery storage projects in low income and disadvantaged communities. These resources will help us to build on the existing successful Solar for All program and accelerate DC's progress towards our ambitious climate and clean energy goals. We are excited to amplify EPA’s historic announcement of $7 billion for the Solar for All program to expand solar and battery storage projects in low income and disadvantaged communities across the country and right here in the District. This announcement is part of the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund that will deliver $27 billion in investments for climate and clean energy projects for years to come. Congratulations to the EPA team for this monumental effort. We are excited to work with our partners at Department of Energy & Environment (DOEE), DC Sustainable Energy Utility (DCSEU), City First Enterprises, International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW), Interfaith Power & Light (DC.MD.NoVA), Green & Healthy Homes Initiative, Groundswell, Inc., and communities across the District to deploy these public dollars and crowd in private capital to unlock clean, renewable, and affordable energy for all Washingtonians. “Today’s Solar for All announcement represents a brighter future for underserved communities in the District and across the country. DC Green Bank congratulates the EPA for its tireless efforts to deliver a program that will expand access to affordable, clean energy for millions of Americans, and support climate resilience. We look forward to working with our District government and community partners to invest in clean energy solutions, grow green jobs, and advance inclusive prosperity for all Washingtonians.” DC Green Bank CEO, Trisha Miller. “EPA’s Solar for All announcement delivers an investment in a future that is more sustainable, affordable, and equitable. The District has ambitious clean energy and climate goals and the resources available through this program will ensure that our strong DC coalition can unlock the benefits of solar in low income and disadvantaged communities across the District. Together, we can advance the clean energy economy and lower consumer energy costs for District residents.” DC Green Bank Board Chair, Brandi Colander. DC Green Bank is proud to announce the closing of $3 million in financing to improve the energy efficiency of a new building in the Barry Farm redevelopment in Ward 8. The new building, The Edmonson, will be all electric and seek Passive House certification, one of the highest standards for green buildings, and will deliver 139 new permanently affordable sustainable housing units. DC Green Bank’s financing will support the installation of a geothermal heat pump – a highly efficient heating and cooling system that will cut utility costs and increase climate resiliency for the community by reducing reliance on the electric grid.     "This historic investment in a community that has been too often left behind is not only delivering affordable housing, but also putting the residents of Barry Farm at the forefront of a clean energy future," said Trisha Miller, CEO of DC Green Bank. "DC Green Bank is proud to be a partner in the redevelopment of Barry Farm and to invest in green affordable housing for residents of Ward 8."    Learn more: https://lnkd.in/e8tdnXJp Preservation of Affordable Housing, DC Housing Authority, Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development, DC Housing Finance Agency, JPMorganChase

Green finance can support a range of community solutions, well beyond climate and energy impacts. This innovative affordable housing project developed by Jubilee Housing is bringing workforce development opportunities and fresh produce to the community. At the heart of this project is the proposition that a sustainable and inclusive future results in opportunities for those impacted by our criminal justice system and those facing poverty.  DC Green Bank supported this impactful project with a $2 million loan. #communitydevelopment #sustainability #greenfinance
