#ICYMI Energy Vault is partnering with RackScale to deliver up to 2 GW/20 GWh of firm, primary power for data centers, beginning in 2026. The partnership will utilize Energy Vault’s B-Nest system which provides: • 8x the energy density of traditional systems, making it ideal for space-constrained urban areas. • 10+ hours of continuous power, significantly exceeding the 1–4 hour durations of conventional battery storage systems. This solution allows RackScale to address grid interconnection delays and accelerate project timelines while ensuring reliable power delivery. Additionally, the B-Nest system enables participation in utility demand response programs, creating opportunities for supplementary revenue while maintaining power reliability. Australia’s #EnergyStorage sector is experiencing significant growth, with the country accounting for 3% of global battery deployments in 2023, totaling 92.3 GWh. This positions Australia among the top contributors to global energy storage, following China, the US, Germany, Italy, and the UK. In 2024, New South Wales (NSW) launched its largest energy storage tender to date, offering support for up to 1 GW of long-duration storage projects capable of delivering at least 8 hours of energy. This initiative aligns with NSW’s objective to legislate a minimum of 28 GWh of long-duration storage by 2034. South Australia has set an ambitious target to generate 500% of its energy needs through #renewables by 2030, aiming to export the surplus to other regions and internationally. Victoria is also progressing, with goals to meet 65% of its energy requirements via renewables by 2030 and 95% by 2035. These policy directions have led to substantial investments in energy storage. As of Q2 2024, Australia has 44 large-scale energy storage projects in the pipeline, representing 8.8 GW/21.8 GWh from financial commitment onwards. #EnergyVault is actively contributing to Australia’s energy transition through • Enervest: A $350 million agreement to deploy a 1 GWh battery energy storage system (BESS) at the Stoney Creek site in New South Wales. • ACEN Australia: A 200 MW/400 MWh BESS at the New England Solar project in New South Wales. These developments underscore Energy Vault’s commitment to advancing renewable energy integration and enhancing #GridStability in Australia. The projects are set to play a vital role in supporting Australia’s renewable energy targets and the broader global shift towards #sustainable energy solutions.

Member Energy Vault has announced a strategic partnership with RackScale Data Centers, an emerging data centre developer, to deliver 2GW of power, highlighting the growing role of LDES technologies to supply reliable, clean energy to meet growing power demand from data centres. According to Goldman Sachs Research, data centre power demand is expected to increase by 160% by 2030. Set to begin construction in 2026, the partnership will provide primary power to RackScale’s data centre sites by deploying Energy Vault’s B-Nest battery energy storage systems. Designed to house batteries for onsite energy storage with up to 1.6GWh of energy per acre, the B-Nest ensures over 10 hours of discharge, providing space-constrained sites with 24/7 access to reliable, #renewable energy. “The safety, energy density, and economics of the B-Nest solution are ideally suited to meet the needs of the data centre market,” said Marco Terruzzin, Energy Vault’s Chief Commercial and Product Officer. “We look forward to partnering with RSDC to deploy critical power infrastructure to support their ambitious growth plans.” To learn more, click below:

Today’s announcement marks the launch of Energy Vault’s latest long-duration energy storage system solution. The B-Nest, introduced alongside Energy Vault’s B-VAULT™ suite of fully-integrated battery energy storage systems designed for reliability, flexibility, and availability, introduces a multi-story fixed frame structure to house BESS. This design enables data center developers to overcome space constraints typically associated with data center sites and thermal generation retirements in order to leverage those sites’ large interconnect capacity. “With the rapid increase in power demand from the rise of the data center sector, it is absolutely essential that renewable energy generation and storage become key points of focus to power the AI data center boom,” said Marco Terruzzin, Chief Commercial and Product Officer, Energy Vault. “Through our partnership with RackScale Data Centers, we will deliver our revolutionary B-Nest battery energy storage system technology and establish a model for the industry.
