After presenting EuroBoosTEX opportunities, the consortium was able to tour the premices, showcasing cutting-edge technology in additive and subtractive manufacturing and industrial automation. This was a fantastic opportunity to see the latest advancements up close! As the team head back to Europe, we want to extend our gratitude to all the organizations we met in Australia for their valuable insights and collaboration. Although this marks the end of our mission, it’s only the beginning of a strong connection. The afternoon was dedicated to a visit of Deakin University’s Institute for Frontier Materials, Deakin University and the Advanced Fibre Cluster, including the Carbon Nexus, the world’s largest open-access carbon fiber research center. Promising ideas for collaboration emerged, especially around connecting our networks for knowledge sharing and future exchanges. Engaging discussions and presentations showcased UTS's cutting-edge research in circularity—covering areas like textile waste reuse from hospitals, algae-based dyes, and pioneering circular business models. The visit included a tour of their impressive facilities, deepening our insights into sustainable practices in fashion. The afternoon was dedicated to meeting The Schneider Group at one of Australia’s premier wool auctions, where much of the high-end wool supply for European brands is sourced. The team exchanged insights on the wool value chain and discussed promising avenues for collaboration within Europe. The day concluded with travel to Melbourne, paving the way for tomorrow's engagements. 🦘 EuroBoosTEX 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗹𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗠𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝗔𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗮 [DAY 3] To start the day in Canberra, The EuroBoosTEX team met with the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO), Australia’s lead agency in scientific innovation. Discussions focused on textile regulations and climate commitments, highlighting contrasts with Europe. CSIRO shared with us their pioneering work in genetically enhancing cotton for dye-free coloring, a solution with great promise to significantly reduce water use in textile production. The afternoon was dedicated to a visit to Samsara Eco, where the team learned about their groundbreaking enzymatic recycling process for PET and Nylon 66. This eco-friendly technology promises a sustainable path for recycling textiles and plastics. The team is heading to Melbourne to pursue the exploratory mission. The visit will include visits and discussions with research facilities, industry leaders, textile institutes, and advanced fiber clusters. [DAY 1] After a productive prep session among EuroBoosTEX members, setting the stage for a collaborative mission ahead, consortium met with The Woolmark Company. 🐑 The Woolmark Company is a not-for-profit organisation working alongside Australia’s 60,000 woolgrowers to research, develop and certify Australian wool. The final fibers, marketed under Iroony™, offer versatile applications in both apparel and technical textiles, paving the way for a more sustainable textile future.
