In an insightful article featured in a special edition of USA TODAY celebrating Native American Heritage Month, alumna Danna Walker highlights her recent adventure in service with Global Volunteers at the Blackfeet Nation in Montana. In this heartfelt reflection, Danna recounts how the service program deepened her understanding of Indigenous identities and the importance of community engagement. From working alongside Blackfeet families to revitalizing community spaces, our volunteers contributed to meaningful projects that foster connection and respect. “This experience was more meaningful than we could have imagined, and I can say ‘we’ because our group bonded in the way those in a platoon might,” she says. This summer, Ad Hoc donated 30 laptops to Ukrainian refugee children living in Wiśniew, Poland as part of a charity program to help children and families connect with other refugees. Many refugees and families in this area have no access or limited access to computers, and we hope these laptops can provide a way for children to continue their studies in their native language and potentially an avenue to better-paying remote jobs for adults. Thank you to Global Volunteers and Adam Robinson and family for putting these laptops to good use and helping ensure the recipients were set up for success. Read more about the summer camp where the kids received their laptops in our latest blog post. https://lnkd.in/gFbydvAW

Earlier this summer I had the amazing opportunity to volunteer abroad in Nepal with Global Volunteers on behalf of the University of Central Missouri. In my two impactful weeks in Kathmandu, I taught English and computer skills, prepared college students for their visa interviews, worked with community leaders, and even painted a school! I am very grateful for the amazing memories, connections, and friendships I made along the way and I cannot wait to volunteer again soon! #GlobalVolunteers #StudyAbroad #CulturalExchange
