As the Federal Government of Nigeria prepares to receive the first shipment of 2,000 John Deere tractors under its ambitious 10,000-tractor scheme, the National Agricultural Development Fund (NADF), the implementing institution, and Heifer Nigeria hosted a strategic workshop earlier this week. The event brought together stakeholders and experts from across the country to explore effective strategies for implementing this large-scale agricultural mechanization program. Dr Nneka Enwonwu, Hello Tractor's Country Managing Director in Nigeria, delivered an insightful session on tractor financing and operations, highlighting Hello Tractor’s innovative Pay-As-You-Go (PAYG) model, a proven success across Nigeria, Kenya, Uganda, and now Rwanda. By the end of the session, stakeholders agreed that a data-driven, de-risked model, supported by a robust ecosystem, provides the most efficient framework for delivering impactful mechanization services under this program. We remain committed to strengthening collaboration with public and private sector partners to bridge the mechanization gap and empower smallholder farmers across Nigeria. #Agriculture #Tractor #FoodSecurity #farmer #AgTech

At Hello Tractor, we are breaking down barriers in agricultural mechanization — an industry often seen as a "boys' club." In partnership with Challenge Fund for Youth Employment, we are proud to have recently completed the first-ever Female Telematics Technician training in Nigeria. This initiative empowered young women, aged 18-34, with the technical skills needed to excel in agricultural mechanization. Over an immersive three-day program, 20 talented young women from Abuja and surrounding areas gained hands-on experience in installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining telematics devices—critical tools for data-driven precision agriculture. This program not only equipped them with technical expertise but also challenged gender stereotypes, opening up new opportunities for women in agriculture. As we continue our journey towards smarter, more inclusive farming, Hello Tractor is proud to have led this transformative training. The future of agriculture is inclusive—and it begins now. #WomenInTech #HelloTractor #AgriculturalMechanization #GenderEquality #DataDrivenFarming #Agriculture

In Rwanda, more than 90% of arable land is cultivated by smallholder farmers, yet the mechanization rate remains at a mere 0.1%. Recognizing this critical gap, we proudly partnered with the Government of Rwanda and Heifer International to take a transformative step: launching Rwanda’s first-ever mechanization hub in Kayonza! This hub is set to revolutionize access to mechanized services in Rwanda. It’s not just a game-changer for the country—it’s a scalable blueprint for advancing mechanization across the continent! #MechanizationForGrowth #RwandaAgriculture #FarmingRevolution #KayonzaMechanizationHub #AgritechInnovation #TransformingAgriculture #RwandaOnTheMove

🚜✨ Driving Change, Sowing Hope: Women in Mechanized Agriculture Hello Tractor proudly hosted an all-female training program at Egerton University, equipping 80 remarkable women with the skills to become professional tractor operators. This initiative represents a major step toward gender inclusivity and sustainability in agriculture, opening new opportunities for women to lead in mechanized farming. Highlights of the Training: 🌾 Enhancing Food Security: These women are ready to support smallholder farmers by improving productivity, ensuring efficient planting, and contributing to stable food supplies. 💼 Creating Economic Opportunities: Equipped with in-demand skills, they now have access to sustainable income streams, whether as operators or entrepreneurs supporting mechanized farming services. 💪 Breaking Barriers: By stepping into a traditionally male-dominated field, they’re challenging norms and proving that agriculture thrives on determination, skill, and innovation—not gender. 🤝 Learning from Women Leaders: Through interactive discussions and panels, participants gained insights and guidance from experienced women in related fields. These role models shared practical advice, success stories, and mentorship, inspiring participants to aim higher. This program exemplifies our commitment to gender equality, community empowerment, and sustainable agriculture. We’re excited to see these trailblazers take the lead in transforming farming and building a more food-secure and inclusive future. Yesterday marked a pivotal moment for Hello Tractor. We proudly launched our first-ever mechanization hub in Rwanda, located in the heart of the Kayonza District! This hub represents a vital step toward revolutionizing agriculture by making mechanized services more accessible to smallholder farmers across the region. Through this initiative, we’re not just introducing tractors but creating a pathway toward food security and economic empowerment. By partnering with the Government of Rwanda and Heifer International Rwanda, we’re laying the foundation for sustainable farming practices that will help boost crop yields, enhance food security, and unlock new job opportunities for Rwandan communities. We extend our deepest appreciation to Heifer International Rwanda, our extended network of partners, tractor owners, booking agents, and farmers who have united in this journey. Together, we’re nurturing a future where farming is more efficient, food production is resilient, and opportunities are accessible to those who work the land. Let’s drive forward, one hub at a time, toward a brighter, more food-secure Africa. #HelloTractor #Rwanda #MechanizationHub #AgricultureRevolution #FoodSecurity #KayonzaHub

This month I had the pleasure of attending the World Food Prize Foundation’s Borlaug Dialogue. It was an excellent opportunity to discuss pressing issues around food security and overall development of agribusiness. This time together was extremely valuable: from joining the President of Tanzania and her agricultural delegation in critical discussions, to meeting with our partners to demonstrate our expertise in cutting-edge equipment and our forward-looking vision on precision agriculture. A special shoutout to Jehiel Oliver, Susan Zimmerman, Alexey Rostapshov, and Oriana Lisker Bosin who all made this event so special and impactful. Here’s to driving the industry forward to create a world where food insecurity is reduced.
