Our common ambition to end plastic pollution by 2040 is increasingly supported, called upon and referenced. Read more on scenario modeling and policy analysis in the towards ending and eliminating plastic pollution by 2040 reports by UN Environment Programme, OECD - OCDE and The Nordic Council of Ministers and The Nordic Council "The ‘Towards Ending Plastic Pollution by 2040’ report was commissioned by the Nordic Council of Ministers and developed by Systemiq Ltd. and presents a set of 15 global policy interventions towards ending plastic pollution. If universally adopted and supported by a set of common global rules in the international legally binding instrument on plastic pollution these could cut annual volumes of mismanaged plastic waste by 90% and virgin plastic use by 30% by 2040 relative to 2019 levels." https://lnkd.in/d_Hfycfc. "The Global Ambition scenario can serve as a strategic guide to chart a path towards the elimination of plastic pollution by mid-century. This comprehensive and co-ordinated approach entails a global ramp up of policy action across the plastics lifecycle, in line with a common target to end (macro)plastic leakage by 2040." https://lnkd.in/e-gEpvA6 "The report proposes a systems change to address the causes of plastic pollution, starting by reducing problematic and unnecessary plastic use, redesigning the system, products and their packaging and combining these with a market transformation towards circularity in plastics. This can be achieved by accelerating three key shifts – reorient and diversify, reuse, and recycle, – and actions to deal with the legacy of plastic pollution." https://lnkd.in/dJcxJ69J
We’re working hard to reduce plastic pollution. Our approach involves advocating for a global agreement to propel the transition to a circular economy, where plastic is reused and recycled rather than discarded. This goal aligns with the G7 Climate, Energy, and Environment Ministers' Communique of 2023, emphasizing the need for sustainable consumption, production, and reusable and recyclable plastic product design. Join us in championing these initiatives to unlock innovation and investments in plastics circularity, enhance economic development, and improve sustainability: https://lnkd.in/eynQQFfz #CircularEconomy #SustainableDevelopment #PlasticPollution
