No one is getting a 25% pay increase, but rents are going up that much in a year. We need more homes that are affordable to all income levels and protected from this kind of price gouging.

Great to see these housing solutions. Our research shows that repurposing buildings (offices, strip malls) has strong public support. It's a win win and can ensure everyone - no matter our race, income or accessibility needs - has a place to call home.

We have the proof of what works. Our leaders can choose to scale up housing first AND prevention or give tax breaks to billionaires and massive corporations. Homelessness is a policy and budget choice. "Homelessness among military veterans has fallen to a record low. The story of how this happened can tell us a lot about what we need to do in order to end the larger crisis." https://lnkd.in/eQRxe-Ue

Of course our first post of 2025 is all about the power of storytelling. Brilliant opinion by our friends at Harvard's Chan School of Public Health. We KNOW stories create change, and we need many more storytellers, sharing authentic stories everywhere, to shift public sentiment about homelessness. That is the Lab's work. 🎆 Happy 2025! 🎆 2024 was an incredible year for us and we look forward to even more opportunities to work together to ensure everyone has the dignity and safety of a stable home. 

The point in time count shows that people everywhere are struggling to pay rent, incomes aren’t keeping up with rising costs and no community has enough affordable places to live. Elected officials are choosing to give tax breaks to billionaires and massive corporations instead of choosing to create housing that is actually affordable. https://lnkd.in/e-m46kfM

When elected officials and community leaders talk about protecting women, children and families, that means every mother and child. Police in Kentucky ticketed an unhoused pregnant woman in active labor for sleeping outside. What she needed was a safe place to sleep, a home. Instead, the police showed a level of cruelty and disregard that is the opposite of to protect and serve. Arresting and fining people with no money and no home will make homelessness worse by saddling them with debt and a criminal record.

Congratulations to #SanFrancisco tenants and affordable housing advocates for this victory, and thanks for showing us that we CAN shift resources to solve homelessness! 🎉
