A comfortable and safe posture. Tasks performed with precision and efficiency. Resources used efficiently. Can this be the future of construction? Yes — with the help of robotics. One of our technologies, a robotic system designed to apply mastic in concrete expansion joints, is making this a reality. ✨ A few weeks ago, some of our partners involved in developing this innovative solution held a demo session in Madrid to test it and gather valuable feedback from future users, which is crucial for tailoring it to meet real-world needs. Read the insights from our experts on how it went: https://lnkd.in/duthJH84 Huge thanks to our team and all the professionals who supported us in this session for your fantastic work and contributions. Creating Human-Centred Technologies for a Safer, Greener, and Resource-Efficient European Construction Industry
About us
HumanTech is a groundbreaking initiative that proposes to use human-centred technologies to advance the European construction industry — increasing the safety and well-being of its workforce, improving its productivity, and making it greener and resource-efficient. From wearables (exoskeletons, cameras, XR glasses) for workers' protection and support, to robots that can collaborate with humans while contributing to the green transition of the industry. We aim to achieve major advances in these technologies and thus disrupt how construction is carried out by a new generation of highly skilled workers and engineers working in a digital, safe, and rewarding environment. On the other hand, to help create a green, circular, and more efficient construction industry, it is necessary to decrease error-prone manual labour and increase fabrication precision. This can be achieved through automation, with technologies that enable precise processes and optimized use of building materials — which we will develop in this project. These also allow for an inventory of materials used in buildings, facilitating their reuse and recycling. So, through this project, we will also be able to advance circularity in this sector, significantly reducing resource waste and greenhouse gas emissions. 22 organizations from Europe, Switzerland, Japan, and Norway will be working on this European Commission-funded project for 36 months. As part of this evolution, we at HumanTech are exploring how robotics can address specific challenges in construction. From 7 to 11 October 2024, colleagues from various partner organisations gathered at ACCIONA Construction’s R&D centre in Madrid for a hands-on demonstration session. It focused on testing and conducting user evaluations of one of our cutting-edge pilot projects: a robotic system designed to apply mastic in concrete expansion joints. This demo allowed us to assess the pilot’s performance in real-world conditions and gather valuable feedback from users, which is critical for refining our technology and tailoring it to actual needs. https://lnkd.in/gPp5n9RP
