Last week, the Young and Alive Summit, hosted by Young & Alive Inititiave gathered delegates from across #Tanzania to learn, connect, and inspire in a vibrant, youth-led platform redefining the future of adolescents’ and youth sexual and reproductive health and rights (#AYSRHR) in the country. 🌍 On the Road to Bogotá: Amplifying Voices at #NFPC2024 🇳🇬 #ICFP2025 celebrates the Nigeria Family Planning Conference this week in Abuja, showcasing Nigeria's leadership in family planning and SRHR. ICFP is hosting #CommunityConversations at NFPC 2024 to spotlight Nigeria's family planning successes and priorities, bringing local perspectives into the global SRHR dialogue ahead of next year's ICFP. Through the Family Planning News Network (#FPNN), community reporters and media experts are capturing key conversations and stories that drive change. This effort is part of the Road to Bogotá, building momentum for #ICFP2025 in Colombia next November. 🌍 Unlocking Better HIV Outcomes: The Mental Health Connection 🌍 At the 5th HIV Research for Prevention (#HIVR4P) conference, Sero Estigma founder and CEO Josue Isaias Valera Rivas, along with co-founder Alex Lopez Juarez, sat down with FPNN Community Reporter Roger Anthony G. to discuss the vital yet often overlooked, role of mental health in #HIV prevention and care. 🧠 Why Mental Health Matters in HIV Care Depression, anxiety, and stigma can impact a person’s ability to access care and adhere to treatment. Global experts discussed the unique challenges women face in HIV prevention and the urgent need for tailored solutions. 💬 Yvette Raphael (Kenya) emphasized: “PREP is revolutionary for women—it gives them the power to protect their own health. But prevention must be as prioritized as treatment. There’s no one-size-fits-all solution.” 💬 Dr. Vanessa Apea (UK) highlighted: “Prevention should be de-medicalized and accessible. Women need to see themselves as candidates for prevention and stay linked to care.” The message is clear: to achieve UNAIDS 2030 targets, HIV prevention strategies must be diverse, inclusive, and adaptable to women’s realities.
