The ProMedica Physicians Group (PPG) Executive Team and the PPG Clinical and Operations Team joined us earlier this month to pack 1,260 Weekender Food Bags. These bags are heading into the community to ensure at-risk students have food access over the winter break. These two teams were organized, efficient, and excited to support their Toledo community. The Islamic Food Bank would like to express its thanks to SeaGate Food Bank for their consistent support. This year, SeaGate invited IFB to apply for two grants. As a result of those grants, IFB received an electric pallet jack to make daily warehouse operations more manageable and two new freezers to ensure safe storage of frozen food before it is distributed to our partner organizations. SeaGate Food Bank has been a long-time partner of ours since the Islamic Food Bank was founded in 2008. We value their dedication to fighting hunger in NW Ohio. Earlier this month, Midwest Tape, LLC employees hosted a food drive to benefit those we serve. Dozens of boxes and bags filled with food and can openers were delivered. Donations have been distributed to the IFB Pantries at PERRYSBURG HEIGHTS COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION and Sunshine Communities. Donations included cooking staples, condiments, pasta sauce, and spices. Earlier this month, Owens Corning employees from around the country participated in a unique team-building event hosted by Impact 4 Good. This organization connects corporations with community organizations to give back in fun ways. Owens Corning employees learned about food insecurity nationwide, as well as right here in Toledo. Then, they designed custom-made bags and delivered them to IFB. These hand designed bags are used for the Food Bags for the Homeless program. IFB partners with the Toledo Lucas County Homelessness Board for their Point-in-Time (PIT) counts to provide unhoused individuals with nutritious food options. Impact4Good also provided funding to fill the bags with ready-to-eat, shelf-stable food.
