Our condolences are with the family and friends of Dr. Loraine Kelley who passed away on December 30. Loraine and Charlie Kelley lived in Kenya at the beginning of the partnership now known as AMPATH Kenya working alongside Kenyan and North American faculty, mentoring Indiana University School of Medicine residents and building the collaboration which has become a model global health partnership for more than three decades. They enjoyed hosting many meals and events in their Kenyan home. With a friendship built on chai and samosas Dr. Loice Sitienei and Dr. Matt Johnson are growing the long-standing AMPATH radiology collaboration with new education and care efforts at Moi University School of Medicine (MUSoM) and Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) in Kenya.  The pair are coordinating remote radiology lectures by Indiana University School of Medicine faculty for 22 radiology residents at MUSoM and are working towards the establishment of a more robust interventional radiology clinical service at MTRH and eventually an interventional radiology fellowship. https://lnkd.in/gkuTmCHK

The Consortium of Universities for Global Health (CUGH) selected Indiana University’s Adrian Gardner, MD, MPH, as recipient of the 2025 Dr. Tom Hall-Dr. Nelson Sewankambo Mid-Career Leadership Award for his leadership and commitment to global health equity. Dr. Gardner is associate dean for global health at Indiana University School of Medicine, director of the IU Center for Global Health Equity and executive director of the AMPATH Kenya Consortium of 16 academic health centers working in partnership with Moi University and Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital in Kenya, as well as new partners in Ghana, Mexico and Nepal.   Read more: https://lnkd.in/gGTYyNiX Congratulations Dr. Gardner!

Students at Indiana University School of Medicine enrolling in the Medicine in Kenya elective are required to attend or send a proxy to a scheduling session 12/19 from 4-5 p.m. via Zoom.
