💡 Inclusivity in fashion & luxury advertising is more than a trendy buzzword -- it can be a game-changer.💡 But are fashion & luxury brands getting it right…or just scratching the surface? In our latest JMA Radio episode, we sit down with Morgan Gregory to discuss what it takes for brands to go beyond performative representation & how to aim for true diversity in their content. As the co-founder of Alltold.ai, Morgan lays out how their AI-driven approach helps brands uncover hidden inclusivity blind spots & elevate their messaging authentically -- while also driving bottom line results 📈 As part of this discussion, we utilized the Alltold platform to analyze a set of videos sourced from the brands featured in the Lyst Top 20 in order to see how the hottest brands stack up when it comes to representation. With 1K+ human characters detected, we processed along six of the core identity dimensions* to understand what we’re doing well when it comes to inclusivity…and to pinpoint the biggest opportunities for growth. The analysis also revealed the brands that are leading the way -- including insight into how New Balance’s thoughtful choices in casting have played a key role in their meteoric growth, as well as an example from Loewe that demonstrates that true inclusivity is more than just skin deep. Massive shout-out to Ashley Vernola, Shannon Mulligan, Gaby Katten & Mason Lawrence for their work producing this episode, and even bigger shouts to Morgan for joining us to discuss all things ‘Fashion Inclusivity’... *gender expression, age, skin tone, observed sexual orientation, body size, & visible disability. #fashion #inclusivity #ai #lyst https://lnkd.in/eZ3YTab8

🌌 AI, Art, and the Stories We Tell Ourselves 🌌 What happens when technology becomes not just a tool, but a creative partner? We came across this article that explores how generative AI is shaping a new cinematic aesthetic, unlocking surreal, morphing, and sometimes unsettling visuals that feel as much dreamlike as futuristic. https://lnkd.in/eb--_KWB Artists worldwide are using tools like Midjourney, Runway, and Luma AI to craft imaginative films without major studio budgets, blending the fantastical with the deeply human. This isn’t just about innovation in filmmaking; it’s about how we engage with change. As these AI-generated visuals push the boundaries of storytelling, they also challenge us to rethink identity, nostalgia, and our relationship with time and space. They show us that transformation—both personal and technological—is fluid, messy, and beautiful. So here’s the big question: What can this new aesthetic teach us about ourselves, our culture, and how we choose to tell our own stories? #AI #Creativity #Storytelling #Filmmaking

🎁✨ ‘Sometimes, a roller coaster of emotions is what best describes the holiday season...’ ✨🎁 Love ’em or roll your eyes at ’em, holiday ads are everywhere this time of year -- but do they always hit the mark? In our latest mixtape-style video*, we dig into how advertisers can go beyond the usual tropes to create something truly memorable. What did we learn? The holidays aren’t just about joy and cheer -- they’re also about reflection, nostalgia, and those in-between moments that stick with us. Audiences connect through authenticity, and the most impactful ads tap into a range of emotions instead of leaning on overused clichés. In short: ‘What audiences are flocking towards are those atmospheres that turn a holiday ad into a holiday vibe.’ 🎥 Check out the video and let us know: What holiday ad this year has stuck out to you? https://lnkd.in/ehKnmzkc *which remixes the Creative Caviar Holiday episode featuring Daniel Enriquez, Jenny C., Kim Snow, Matthew Lindley & the lovely voice work of Audrey Tran Van Nhieu (long live Unskippable)… #Holidays #Creativity #Holidaze #Marketing #Storytelling #Vibes

🧠 "Curiosity doesn't need to have an answer; it just is." 🧠 This insight from Vogue’s A New York Day With Marc Jacobs and Jerry Saltz reminds us that creativity thrives in the questions, not the answers. https://lnkd.in/e_VbJha2 What if we focused less on outcomes and more on the process? 💭 Ever feel stuck in the messy middle of a tough decision? Turns out, that’s not such a bad place to be 💭 We came across this episode of the Hidden Brain podcast on LinkedIn this week*, and it gave us a fresh perspective on something we often see as a negative: ambivalence. Psychologist Naomi Rothman breaks down how leaning into mixed emotions—what she calls a “paradox mindset”—can actually lead to sharper decisions, more creative ideas, and even better outcomes in negotiations. For creatives, this idea hits close to home. We are no strangers to paradoxes. We live in that tension between freedom & structure, inspiration & discipline. It’s especially relevant as we put the finishing touches on our updated holiday storytelling principles, where we explore how the most obvious emotional cue isn’t always the most effective one. Sometimes, it’s that nuanced mix of feelings—those subtle, layered moments—that really hit the mark and create the biggest emotional impact. Whether you’re designing a project, brainstorming solutions, or navigating tough calls, leaning into the discomfort of opposing thoughts can spark something unexpected. Ambivalence doesn’t mean indecision—it means you’re open to complexity, and that’s where innovation happens. 🎧 Give the podcast a listen below 🎧 https://lnkd.in/d6ZD6ewU How do you embrace the messy middle in your creative process? *and massive shouts to the curious soul who shared the episode originally…whose name now escapes us #Creativity #HiddenBrain #ParadoxMindset #Holidays #Growth #Psychology

🎶 Sound shapes the way we feel 🎶 Donkey Kong Country turned 30 a couple weeks back, and while the nostalgia is real, the game’s sound design still remains unmatched. David Wise didn’t just write music for a game—he crafted an atmosphere. From jazzy rhythms to ambient synths, the soundtrack didn’t just complement gameplay; it transformed it, making every jump, swim, and boss battle feel like an adventure. https://lnkd.in/eYJWUwcH We actually featured this legendary soundtrack earlier this year in our JMA Radio episode The Sport of Luxury with Kevin Keane 🧠 of Brainsights. https://lnkd.in/e9TW2SsU The funny thing about sound design is that the greatest examples are often invisible – it’s not something you actively notice, but it makes everything else come alive. A perfect track can transport you to another world, ground you in a moment, or even unlock a memory you didn’t realize you had. It’s not just about the notes; it’s about the vibe, the emotions, and the way sound weaves itself into our experiences. Whether it’s the hum of city streets, a perfectly timed movie score, or the ambient loops of your favorite game, sound has this uncanny ability to create meaning. What’s a sound or piece of music that instantly transports you? #SoundDesign #Nostalgia #Atmosphere #CreativityInSound #Soundtrack

Sometimes the best way to flex your creative muscles is to step away from the tools of your trade, and pick up something completely different. Reading this article about Microsoft Paint reminds us of why it’s so important for creatives to have outlets that aren’t tied to their day jobs. MS Paint, with all its pixelated quirks and bare-bones features, was never meant to rival Photoshop or Illustrator. That’s exactly why it became so beloved. Its limitations invited play. Its simplicity encouraged experimentation. And in embracing its ‘crappiness’, people found ways to make something uniquely theirs. https://lnkd.in/eFZQBvuN For those of us in creative fields, there’s a lesson here. If you’re a photographer, try sculpting with clay. If you’re a designer, maybe pick up a guitar. If you’re an animator, grab some watercolors. Shifting to a completely different medium—and maybe even using a tool that’s ‘past its prime’—takes the pressure off perfection and reconnects you with the joy of making things just because. That same idea—exploring new disciplines to energize your core craft—connects directly to an upcoming JMA Radio episode* featuring Lauren Ducrey. In it, Lauren dives into how she uses poetry to help marketers & non-marketers rediscover their own creativity, and discusses how ‘working in verse’ can help organizations break out of their rivers of thinking when it comes to storytelling & collaboration. And while Lauren’s approach makes use of a ‘non-traditional’ technique…her process shows how creative constraint can inspire & expand the possibilities when working with more modern tools such as AI & LLMs. Jeff Miner has his Bolex 16mm, Mason Lawrence has his Hasselblad–do you have a favorite just for fun creative habit that keeps you inspired? #retro #mspaint #microsoft #inspire #tech #ai *This video will launch in the 2H of January on the JMA YouTube channel.
