Let’s Get Weird Off-Site : Venice Biennale 2024 At Let’s Get Weird, we believe in the importance of exploration and wandering. Taking time to experience new moments and places enriches our client work, providing fresh perspectives, beautiful sights, and inspiring ideas. We decided to make it a Let’s Get Weird adventure to meet up for the 60th Venice Biennale. Titled "Stranieri Ovunque - Foreigners Everywhere" and curated by Adriano Pedrosa, this year's showcase featured a diverse roster of artists from around the globe, making it inclusive and globally representative. The main space and country pavilions offered visitors a wide range of artistic expressions from across the world, highlighting artists who are immigrants, expatriates, or from marginalized groups, particularly those who have moved between the Global South and North. We were particularly drawn to the emphasis on textiles and craft. Many artists explored traditional and handmade techniques, often considered "foreign" or "outsider" in the visual arts world, bringing a rich and diverse texture to their work. Historical connections were also a prominent theme, with some exhibitions drawing links between contemporary art and historical contexts or artistic movements. One of the most impactful experiences for us was the juxtaposition of contemporary queer art against the historic backdrop of Venice's churches and religious monuments. These very monuments, which historically represented oppression, now serve as canvases for the powerful, modern art displayed within them.
