About us
The LA Opportunity Youth Collaborative (OYC) is building a community of organizations working in concert to ensure that every youth is served in a holistic way with a coherent array of complementary services. We are building and strengthening bridges among more than 50 public agencies, service organizations, educational institutions, and employers to better connect youth with education, jobs, and opportunity. Mission: Building multi-sector partnerships to improve education and employment outcomes for transition age foster youth to thrive. Vision: Transition age foster youth in Los Angeles County have the knowledge and skills to allow them to achieve economic mobility and flourish in their personal lives. The OYC is co-convened in partnership with UNITE-LA and John Burton Advocates for Youth.

This session, led by the youth, education, workforce, and social support system leaders who helped develop the Horizons 32K Strategic Plan, will explore the strategies and initiatives outlined in the roadmap to create a more supportive future for young people. Our speakers will also review the progress made under the previous LAP3 plan, the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on youth disconnection, and the renewed commitment to serving LA County's 143,000 opportunity youth. Participants will learn how government and community leaders can work together to change the systemic conditions contributing to youth disconnection in Los Angeles County. His story underscores the importance of culturally informed care and diverse representation in mental health. I’m proud to be a co-founder of Blue Shield of California BlueSky youth mental health initiative, which supports Brother Be Well and promotes health equity. The Aspen Forum For Community Solutions (AFCS) in partnership with Ballmer Group announces a $6 Million Investment in Community Solutions Impact Grants for Opportunity Youth The Aspen Institute Forum for Community Solutions’ Opportunity Youth Forum (OYF), a national network, collaborative and fund, announced a new $6 Million investment in pathways for opportunity youth (OY) – defined as youth and young adults, 16-24 years of age, who are neither enrolled in education nor engaged in the workforce. As part of a larger 3-year investment by Ballmer Group, $6 million will go directly to four leading-edge OYF communities to scale effective place-based strategies to reduce further the number of young people who are out of school and work.
