The LSE Department of Statistics has a very strong presence at NeurIPS 2024, one of the world’s most prestigious conferences on artificial intelligence and machine learning. The event showcases ground-breaking advancements shaping the future of #AI. This year at #NeurIPS2024 LSE researchers (all #DSIAffiliates) will present five papers spanning diverse topics such as: ·        active learning ·        multi-armed bandits ·        causal dependence visualisation ·        causal reinforcement learning ·        kernel-based methods These studies push the boundaries of AI research, offering new insights and methodologies that address real-world challenges. The work represents collaborative efforts with leading global institutions, including Meta, The George Washington University, KAIST, Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), New York University, Seoul National University, Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, and The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. This week, we were proud to facilitate the first 2024/25 meeting of the LSE Student Education Panel (SEP), consisting of more than 50 undergraduate and postgraduate students across academic disciplines. After an introduction from Claire Gordon PFHEA, the focus at this meeting was 'Faith in the Classroom'. Discussion was led by Andrew Dickson (LSE Faith Centre) and Lauren Amdor (LSE Students' Union (LSESU)) For the first time since the SEP was founded, we were also joined by facilitators from Facing History and Ourselves UK.
