My top three lessons for you Building a 7 figure marketing agency 👇 1️⃣ DO LESS BUT BETTER One of the biggest startup traps? Trying to be experts in too many diff channels. That's how you get C- results everywhere. The "Power Law of Distribution" is real. Do NOT get channel FOMO. Your CEO will try to convince you: "Let's try this new channel" "Because our competitors are using it..." ✋🛑 👀 Quick story for you When I was leading marketing at Dooly I discovered "Memequisition" as a channel. (AKA partnering with meme pages for distribution) It was 99% untapped in B2B. BUT... I messed up. I only partnered with 70% of the pages. I could have got them all. I wanted to spread my budget. ** Big mistake ** Our competitors copied me. I should have 100% owned that moat. 📌 My learning for you When you see something working → double down Then focus on building the right team to capitalize on ONE channel That's why we focus on: B2B "Edutainment" at Authority B2B. 2️⃣ CREATE A MARKETING CHARTER This matters A TON in 2025. Why? 1. AI. Need I say more? 2. Search is changing fast (I use GPT for 80% of my searches) 3. Your company / founder brand are your BEST moat So many places you can invest. You need to move FAST. Too many B2B brands get Analysis Paralysis. Legal are still reviewing "brat summer" 😂 One of mine for you: "Our creativity does the heavy lifting. Not our wallets" When faced with choices between: ❌ Solving with $ ✅ Solving with creativity Lean on your values to decide. Move fast. Get momentum. That's why our site is still a Notion page. You can build a 7 figure business without fancy stuff. 3️⃣ BECOME A TALENT MAGNET Your culture is 50% your talent. You WANT people to want to join your cause. (All my best hires came inbound in my last 5 yrs) Because I built a brand that attracted them. Your brand MATTERS. A lot. 🧵 Entrepreneur magazine's new data: - 82% trust companies more when leaders are on social - 50% of Millennials expect CEOs to speak on issues - 77% more likely to buy when CEOs use social Invest in your brand moat EARLY. It helps you attract A+ talent. You own that moat. -- That's why Daniel Murray and I built Authority. Why we hit 7 figures in topline ARR within 68 days. The POWER of organic LinkedIn 👇 2024 client results: → 303,378,332 million organic impressions → 4,904,413 M total engagements → Added 898,648 new followers Quietly minting dozens of top 1% LinkedIn creators. (Founders, leaders, and company pages) With LinkedIn becoming their new # 1 growth channel. -- 📌 TLDR; 1. Find your channel → Be the BEST at one thing 2. Create charter values for tough decisions 3. Invest in your brand moat 👋 P.S. What would you add? P.P.S. Opening our Authority B2B waitlist this week. Taking on 2-3 new clients this quarter. Curious? DM me "Authority" -- 👋 Follow Mark P. Every marketer has lived this scene. IYKYK 😉 CEO: "Can you get our whitepaper into TechCrunch??" Me: "That's... not really how PR works." Ever notice how PR feels broken in B2B? Agency promises "tier 1 results" BUT... They make you sign a 12-month $$$ retainer. They lure you with fancy slide decks. Andddd then you get no coverage 🫠 That's why I love what Pathos Communications is doing. They flipped the model: pay for results only. Check them out https://bit.ly/4faUhB4 I learned this the HARD way y'all lol.. Funny PR HORROR story for you 😅 It was May 2021. I was Head of Marketing at Dooly. We had just raised our Series A funding. Time to get our story out there! (I love PR so I was hyped) My CEO and I interviewed 3 PR firms. ** What happened next was wild lol ** 1️⃣ 1st PR Firm - Great first meeting - Then 48 hrs later... They signed with our competitor. Leaked our confidential info. The messaging we wrote was "conveniently" quoted almost verbatmin in our competitor’s press release... Yaaa. Not a fun week 😅 2️⃣ 2nd PR Firm In our Ariana Grande era now. "Thank U next" ✋ We got a new recco from our VCs. They came HIGHLY recommended. Signed a 6 month retainer for $10k/m. Fast forward to 2 months later... We had ZERO coverage interest. It was baddddddd. Crickets bad. They promised the moon in their pitch. Delivered nada. And blamed us: "Your story isn't strong" (We had $120M in funding lined up by then 🤔) So we ate the cost. Ended the contract. And got ONE more intro from a friend. 👀 Everything changed here... 3️⃣ 3rd PR Firm: We told them the SAME story. We gave them the SAME materials. And within one week, they delivered 10X. We landed: ✅ Back to back TechCrunch features ✅ Multiple tier 1 placements A live interviews on Cheddar TV Tons of high quality press. Which converted to opps. The difference? HOW they pitched our story. It made me realize what's broken in B2B. - Too many agencies flash fancy logos - Promise the moon in slick decks - Charge $$$ retainers upfront Then... When they can't deliver? ❌ "It's a you problem, not a them problem." As an early startup? You need flexibility to de-risk. So you can test your message in market. To find the right message <> market fit. Check out Pathos Communications. You only pay for results. #PathosPartner -- P.S. BONUS funny story in the comments 😂

Marketing life: 50% anxiety. 50% coffee ☕️ (Because you prob didn't sleep) Marketing brain is literally 24/7 375. SO 📌 Friendly reminder y'all: Be. Kind. To. Yourself. 🤩 Why? Because... Being creative is hard AF. Marketing is an endless loop of testing. You are GUARANTEED to have big flops. Because you're testing BIG new ideas. Not everything will hit. That's why you need SYSTEMS ♻️ To support your mental health. So flops don't crush you. Try my 3X systems. 👇 1️⃣ KEEP A WIN JOURNAL I do mine like this: 1. Monthly reviews vs my goals 2. Quarterly check-ins 3. End of year retro It reminds you of your wins 🏆 Bc it's easy to lose sight of them. And fixate on a recent idea that flopped. BONUS TIP: You can program a bot to EMAIL you win reminders. They'll hit your inbox / Slack at random times. To keep you motivated 💪 2️⃣ BUILD GROWTH TRACKING SYSTEMS (And bring retros into your routine) Block off time every week to document: → The experiments / ideas you tested → Why you ran each experiment → What "success" KPIs were → How long you ran them → What you learned Share this publicly. With your ENTIRE org. When something flops? But had a good idea behind it. It shows your thought process / POV. And keeps people informed of how you think. 3️⃣ CREATE SYSTEMS FOR YOUR TEAM h/t to JK Sparks who taught me this years ago Keep "Brag Books" for all your teams 📁 Document ALL their wins. It helps you: 📣 Advocate for your peeps 👀 Build psychological safety to take risks (Because they remember their wins) My final 0.02 for you: Remember that marketing is ONLY testing. ❌ There is absolutely NO failure. → There is only learning → Or success As long as you're... 1. Tracking your wins 2. Documenting learnings 3. Sharing the TLDRs internally 👀 P.S. The anxiety never fully goes away. Remember the sweaty Mailchimp "send" finger GIF?? That feeling will be with you forever. Learn to embrace it. Andddd switch to decaf after 3 pm ✌️ What else did I miss?? — 👋 Follow Mark P. Jung for more marketing content. Your marketing needs ONE clear voice. Not a committee of opinions. Here's WHY 👇 Marketing should NEVER feel like marketing. If it does feel like marketing? It probably won't sell. That's why you NEED this skill: "Feedback Fencing" ⚔️ Feedback usually comes from a good place. BUT you need to manage it. By doing on OFFENSE. En guard. (Yes I was a fencing nerd growing up) 👇 Invest in your internal marketing. You need to MARKET your marketing. Because... When people feel confident? About your plan + vision. - They rally behind you - Not against you ✅✨ These are my 5 FAV tips 👇 1️⃣ Use the BLUF technique BLUF = Bottom Line Up Front A military comms strategy. It puts the key info first. → Start with a concise statement → Answer who, what, where, when, why → Put action items or key takeaways first "BLUF: We launch X campaign on May 1st. ACTION: All team members review Y materials by April 15th." Use these shortcuts in caps (For email / Slack) ✅ ACTION – Need the recipient to take some action 👀 INFO – Info only. No response or action needed 🙋♀️ DECISION – Requires a decision made by them ✍️ SIGN – Requires the signature of the recipient 💬 REQUEST – Permission or approval needed 🤝 COORD – Coordination required 2️⃣ Keep it short → Get to the point quickly No one will read your 60 page doc. TIP: Drop your brief into GPT. Summarize your projects. Remove any jargon. Short + simple. 3️⃣ Lead with this data Make it → easy to understand 📈 Add these 3 bullets for your key metrics → Metric one:  {Numbers} → Metric explanation:  {Why you chose it} → Metric forecast:  {What you expect to get} Do this for 3 to 5 of your key areas. Each should roll up to a top-level number. 4️⃣ Write ONE clear call to action Make participation effortless. What should they do next? → Get customer feedback? → Post it on social? Make it crystal clear. Only one ask. 5️⃣ Write catchy headings → Get attention from the start Your internal marketing is not a whitepaper. Market 👏 Your 👏 Marketing. No "Blah blah jargon." (Make it fun) Thanks for coming to my comms talk ✌️ P.S. What else would you add? -- Follow Mark P. Jung for more marketing content. Liked this? Repost ♻️ to share!

LinkedIn algorithm: "I'm gonna make you wish you were dead" ☠️ Felt this before? You're 100% not alone 😂 BUT...if you want consistency try THIS: I call it "The Missy Elliott" Flip it and Reverse it 👇 ❌ Don't write what you want to say → then make it social ✅ Find what works on social → then connect it to your message Start with content you KNOW will hit. Then connect your story to it. So...how do you do that? Remove this trap. The "We" trap ✋🛑 Most B2B content starts with "We..." "We won this amazing award..." "We are proud to announce..." "We shipped X new thing" The people that don't know you yet? Ya, they probably do NOT care. Swap "We" for → "You" ✅ "You" content is about YOUR audience. Then follow my Rule of 1. → 1 specific emotion → 1 audience → 1 point Try it ✌️ P.S. Have you been personally victimized by the LI algo? Someone should remix this movie for B2B btw "How to lose engagement in 10 days" Need a producer Netflix? I'm 100% down lol — 👋 Follow Mark P. Jung for more marketing content. When Jaguar launched their rebrand? EVERYONE had an opinion 💬 When the SVB banking crisis happened? Everyone was a banking expert. Suddenly overnight! So lucky right? 😉 Today... Brands are posting Spotify wrapped memes. And people are trolling them for it. Don't be that person. Be kind. 📌 Friendly reminder y'all Be KIND to your marketers. It's wayyyyy harder than it looks. 👀 What most do NOT see Behind every marketing campaign? There's TONS of roadblocks especially in B2B like these👇 → 7 stakeholders water down your vision → Very little appetite for risk → Internal politics 👋 HOW it usually goes: You pitch a pretty wild creative idea. Leadership says: "Too risky." So they suggest edits. "Let's try this safer version first..." "If it works, we can try your idea next" Narrator: "It did NOT in fact work" Because they watered down the vision. By making it a 'Decision by Committee' Then they blamed the marketer. Leadership: "See, it did not work..." "We should stick to what we know" 🤦♂️ The reality Marketing = EASY to have opinions on. HARD AF to execute well. So be kind ! ✍️ My 0.02 for you leaders: When your team is EXCITED about an idea? Give them 100% freedom to test it. They will overdeliver for you. If you trust them to do it. Their way. ❌ NEVER do this 1. Tell them what to do 2. Blame them when it fails Or you hurt their creative spirit. And don't create safety for big ideas. TLDR; Be kind to your marketers. You hired them as the experts. Trust them ✌️ — 👋 Follow Mark P. Jung for more marketing content. Did this land with you? ♻️ Repost to share!

You deserve a job you're excited to wake up for. Why I created my North Star metric 👇 📌"DWE" →Days Waking up Excited Here's how you can use it in under 45s 📈 Rate yourself on a -2 to +2 scale. Look at your weekly AVGs. Where are you at? ✍️ Then ask yourself: 1) Am I learning new skills? 2) Am I earning what I'm worth? 3) Does my work align with my values? 🙋♂️ Personally? I used Garry Tan's method:  “At every job, you should learn or earn. "Either is fine. Both are best." But if it's neither, quit.” My simple math was this: 💡 Use my 9-5 to learn and earn 💪 Use my 5-9 to build for my future 👀 If you’re not waking up excited? It may be time for a change. You should find a role that: → Challenges you to grow → Compensates you fairly   → Gives you energy, not anxiety P.S. You deserve an amazing career. Never settle for less! You should always be "unlearning" I hear this bad LinkedIn advice A LOT👇 "Real authors only write text posts" "Images and selfies are cringe" "Text posts perform better" ✋🛑 This is BAD advice. Why? Trust data. Not opinions: The AVG results from image posts? They get up to 2X more engagement than text 📈 *Validated by multiple studies > 100,000 posts. 📌 NOTE: we tested + validated this at Authority We've created 2,000+ posts for our clients in 2024. Posts that have driven over 200 million impressions. Same trend holds for both: → Personal brands → Company pages Image posts win. They outperform text. ✍️ Here's WHY: 3X reasons you should add images: 1️⃣ Own the mobile feed 70% of LinkedIn users are on mobile. An 800x999 image takes up the full screen. Text only posts? You compete with 2-3 others Do the math: Full-screen image = 100% attention  Text-only = 33% attention (at best) 2️⃣ Get found on search Quick client story for you: Client asks: "What was that stat from our post?" Me: "Let me search for it real quick..." Client: "Hahah, we're the featured snippet!" Their 2-week old post? Now the # 1 featured snippet. Free organic traffic. Thank me lataer. 3️⃣ Build your brand Consistent visuals = instant recognition My posts? → Company logo → Brand colors / font → Sometimes my headshot Could they look better? 1000% Made them in Canva but they work. You know it's me before reading a word. 👀 The cherry on top? → Dark mode images = high contrast = attention → Images like this let you test 2x the copy → Any reposts have your branding LOTS more to unpack here. But TLDR for you? Add images. ✌️ -- 👋 Follow Mark P. Jung for more marketing content. Helpful? ♻️ Repost to share!

Marketing looks easy. But it's HARD. This is dangerous. Why? Because bad marketing can make great products fail 👀 Marketing is easy to have an opinion on ❌ But difficult to execute the details well Marketing sits at the intersection of art, science, and emotion. Marketers spend years studying: Conversion Rate Optimization Value Proposition Design Positioning & Messaging Persona Development Behavioral Analytics Demand Generation Campaign Strategy Creative Direction Journey Mapping Content Strategy User Psychology Visual Systems Copywriting Storytelling Branding 👆That’s why it looks “easy” The same way you wouldn’t tell an engineer how to build a car *Let marketers do their thing* 👋 P.S. Never play defense in your interviews. Go on offense. Try this👇 → Create something of value BEFORE you walk in → Treat your interview like a new discovery call → Control the narrative with your questions Change your mental approach: ❌ Don't defend your past ✅ Create their future Why? → No one cares what you did → They care what you can do now Showing is MUCH stronger than telling 💪 And make this mental shift Go from: → "I hope they like me" To: → "I hope I like them" Interviews are a two-way street. Make sure they are a fit for you. Go on offense. Not defense. In your preparation. In your attitude. It works ✌️✨ -- P.S. Have you finished House of the Dragon yet?
