As we approach the significant date of October 14th, we invite you to join us for the launch event of Saltwater Stories. This powerful coffee table book amplifies the resilience, brilliance, and strength of First Nations peoples. This event is more than just the unveiling of a book; it's an opportunity to take action, stand in solidarity, and explore the transformative power of storytelling. We are honoured to welcome Kon Karapanagiotidis, the CEO and founder of the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre (ASRC), as a key guest at this event. While Kon is best known for his tireless advocacy for refugees, he is also deeply committed to Indigenous rights and causes. As a board member of Children’s Ground and a passionate advocate for self-determination, Kon understands the importance of amplifying Indigenous voices, particularly those of youth. His work reflects a broader commitment to human rights and social justice, shaped by his personal experiences as the child of working-class migrants in rural Victoria. During the event, Kon will share insights on how we can support Indigenous youth and communities, focusing on the importance of creating pathways to empowerment and equality. We will also explore the crucial role of storytelling in driving social change, particularly in how it helps connect people to Country, preserve culture, and amplify voices that have historically been marginalised. Join us in celebrating Saltwater Stories and in a conversation that aims to inspire action and solidarity with First Nations communities. Together, we can help shape a future where Indigenous voices are not only heard but lead the way in creating lasting, positive change.
