Craig Arnold spent eight-plus years as a senior environmental design engineer at Apple, where he developed lifecycle assessment models for key manufacturing processes. Now Arnold, a sustainability consultant with TASA Analytics, LLC, teaches Northwestern Master of Science in Energy & Sustainability (MSES) program students how to effectively conduct lifecycle assessments and successfully implement what they reveal. The lifespan of solar cells has been significantly extended, thanks to innovative research from a team at Northwestern University. A newly developed protective coating boosts solar cell stability in real world conditions. The study, co-led by Bin Chen, Ted Sargent, and Mercouri Kanatzidis, was recently published in Science Magazine.
