Novel Microdevices, a medical diagnostics company based in Baltimore, has secured $2.68 million in additional funding from the NIH’s RADx Tech program, following successful milestones for its point-of-care RT-PCR diagnostic platform. This brings Novel Microdevices’ total funding from RADx Tech to $4.08 million, including the initial $1.4 million received in August 2023. Led by CEO Andrea Pais, Novel Microdevices is developing its flagship Novel Dx device, designed to rapidly detect RSV, Influenza A and B, and COVID-19 in just 15 minutes. The follow-on funding will support the company’s commercialization efforts to bring high-performance, laboratory-quality diagnostic tools to clinical settings. This funding aligns with RADx Tech’s goal of advancing accessible, high-performance COVID-19 and multi-disease diagnostics. Funded in part by the National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering (NIBIB) under Contract No. 75N92023D00001, the project advances Novel Microdevices toward its goal of delivering efficient and user-friendly diagnostic solutions.
