About us
The Engineering Research Center (ERC) for Advanced Technologies for the Preservation of Biological Systems (ATP-Bio) aims to “stop biological time” and radically extend the ability to bank and transport cells, aquatic embryos, tissue, skin, whole organs, microphysiological systems (“organs-on-a-chip”), and even whole organisms through a team approach to build advanced biopreservation technologies.

📢 Exciting Research Published in Nature Communications! We’re thrilled to share the new publication, "On the equilibrium limit of liquid stability in pressurized aqueous systems", authored by Arian Zarriz, Baptiste Journaux, and Matt Powell-Palm. This work explores the absolute thermodynamic limits of freezing in aqueous brines. Using isochoric freezing and melting, the authors measure the “cenotectic point” (from Greek, meaning “universal melt”) for the first time. The findings have fascinating implications for ocean worlds in our solar system, cold ocean exoplanets, and estimating ice crust thickness and final ocean depths at cenotectic pressures. 🔗 Read the full paper here: https://lnkd.in/gvpFfY_K 👏 Congratulations to Arian Zarriz, Baptiste Journaux, and Matt Powell-Palm on this remarkable achievement! #ATPBio #NSFFunded #NSFERC #IsochoricFreezing #Thermodynamics #OceanWorlds #Exoplanets
