🫶 As we eagerly anticipate the New Year, our hearts are filled with gratitude for those of you who made the mission of Oak City Cares possible this year. Because of your support, we made incredible strides in serving our neighbors experiencing homelessness, hunger, and hardship. Your support has always been the cornerstone of our success, and it was influential in 2024. This year, because of your generosity, we have: *Provided over 60,000 essential services and resources to 5,414 individuals and families in need. *Helped over 80 households transition to stable housing and employment opportunities. *Partnered with over 30 local agencies and organizations to create a more robust network of care. *Expanded our outreach efforts to ensure no one in our community is left behind. Each meal served, each connection made, and each life changed is a testament to the power of community. You are an integral part of that community, and your contributions—whether through volunteering, donating, or advocating—have made a major impact. Looking ahead, we are excited to build on this momentum. In the coming year, we aim to house more individuals and families, continue our expanded outreach to our neighbors, and provide nourishing meals to our neighbors in need. ☃️ Whatever you celebrate this week and throughout the season, we wish you a Happy Holidays from all of us at Oak City Cares. We’re so thankful for everything this season brings at this time of year, and we’re especially grateful for the unique and generous ways our community seeks to support our neighbors during this season. When nights get long and temperatures get cold, it’s our job to make a difference for those who are unsheltered, vulnerable, and lonely. It’s one thing when nonprofits do their job, but when the whole community rallies to support the vulnerable, it’s a true sign of flourishing that any community needs. We’re so grateful to have this here in Raleigh, and we can’t wait to see what we’ll continue to accomplish as we head into the 2025. It paints a picture of not just a physical place but also a place of belonging, comfort, and warmth. However, not everyone in our community has the luxury of returning home during the holidays. For our neighbors experiencing homelessness, the holidays can be a stark reminder of what they are missing. The comfort many associate with this time of year can feel distant and out of reach. Fortunately for our neighbors, there is a place that not only gives people the feeling of home but can give them a home of their own. Thanks to your kindness and generosity, Oak City Cares housed more than 70 individuals and families in 16 months. With your support, we can have an even greater impact. 🏢 We love Storr Office Environments! They make great offices, and they love to help neighbors. This crew hosted us to assemble 268 care bags for neighbors experiencing homelessness. Storr have been avid supporters and promoters of our mission from the beginning, and we always appreciate the chance to collaborate with them. 🏠 For many, home for the holidays means traditions to be celebrated, memories to be made, and loved ones to gather and share in the joy of the season. It serves as a place of refuge from the coldness of the outside world, both literally and metaphorically, offering a sanctuary where one can feel safe, loved, and valued. However, not everyone in our community has the luxury of returning home for the holidays. For our neighbors experiencing homelessness, the holidays can be a stark reminder of what they are missing. The feelings many associate with this time of year can feel distant and out of reach. For those who have a home, this season is a time to be grateful and share that sense of belonging with others. For those without, it is a call for the community to come together to invest in a place where everyone can feel the spirit of the season. Fortunately, our neighbors experiencing homelessness have a place to feel that sense of “home” – Oak City Cares. This year, our community has continued to adjust to the challenges of a changing economy, and our neighbors experiencing homelessness have felt the challenges even more. Increased costs of living and lack of affordable housing have put many in our community in need of help. However, with your kindness and generosity, Oak City Cares housed 74 individuals and families in the last 12 months.
