Last December, the holidays, football and blockbuster movies drove record high viewing for streaming services like YouTube, Netflix and Amazon Prime Video. On top of a 7.6% increase in November, streaming viewership climbed another 9% in December and the category secured 43% of total TV watch time in the U.S. Looking ahead, shows like American Primeval, Squid Game and Severance: Season 2 will likely keep streaming viewership high, as well as the Superbowl available to stream on select services in February. As for broadcast and cable, monthly increases in sports viewership (football season) has given these channels a boost, with a large amount of viewers expected to tune in to the Superbowl.
