If you're feeling that climate anxiety and climate grief flare up right now, you're not alone.* I sometimes forget that not everyone in our space is surrounded by other sustainability professionals who share that burden and understanding of what these increasingly frequent climate disasters mean. I know some of y'all are a team of 1 in your org, pushing against business as usual, feeling the strain of the climate work we have ahead of us. As someone who does work exclusively with other ESG, impact, etc. people, I can tell you that we're all feeling the weight of these fires. Every single call today was somber. Numerous qb. team members and clients have been affected (all are safe at the moment, but things are not OK right now). 💚 💡 🧠 100 days of inspiring women  🧠  💡💚 Day 26 & 27/100 - Sam Hartsock and Noemí Jiménez WALK THE TALK I attended my first Net Impact conference in 2018. During the event, I heard from Ayesha Barenblat, the powerhouse founder of remake.world. In a follow up message, Ayesha suggested I reach out to Sam, a Remake ambassador, and the rest is history. Back then, I wouldn’t have been even close to guessing that we’d end up collaborating and working together on various projects at qb. consulting. the sustainability firm that Sam Hartsock and Noemí Jiménez co-founded in 2017 (happy 7th anniversary!). In 2020, qb. provided me with a platform to share my thoughts on human rights and inequality during COVID and fast forward to 2024, they've given me the opportunity to work with other members of the qb. team on several projects since I left my role at Tesla. They also send out a tip-top newsletter that's actually useful + entertaining. I am SO impressed with the firm they’ve built, the clients they’ve cultivated, and their work ethic. What inspires me the most about this dynamic duo is that they 100% walk the talk and practice what they preach. Thanks for existing and showing that a different type of service provider firm is possible!!! Context for #100DaysofInspiringWomen I’ve built a career addressing heavy questions with no formulaic answers: How do we actually deploy a #JustTransition? How can businesses deliver on the expectation to respect #HumanRights? What could remedy look like? This means I spend a lot of my time reading and thinking about the dark underbelly of the world we live in. I ran into a similar project started by Laura Jessie Cook, FRSGS and was THRILLED that she gave me the green light to copy her idea and have the opportunity to write about women in my orbit that inspire me in ways large and small. It was amazing to work with qb. consulting and Sam Hartsock this semester, to dive into deep market research including more than a dozen interviews, to understand the opportunities and pain points in climate equity and community resiliency work. I got to sit in the client seat last week while Presidio Graduate School students Amanda Teoman, Brodie Roberts, Lindsey Jo Smith, and Michelle Gyorke-Takatri delivered their final EL strategy project presentation. It was a nice change! 😃 I challenged my PGS team to design a suite of services for qb. that address climate risk (i.e., CA SB 261 readiness), spark collective climate action, and help companies ensure their sustainability efforts are inclusive and just. And y’all, they delivered!
