🗣️ “Youth not only play a vital role in ensuring the food they consume is healthy, but also that it is harmonious with nature.” We are thrilled to share our latest blog, written by the Kenya Indigenous Youth Network’s Loolasho Bernard, that looks at the critical role young people can play in the transition towards regenerative food systems, and the support they need. At a regional convening in Kenya last year, co-hosted by Regen10 and #ECIAfrica, Bernard outlined the barriers facing indigenous young people who are engaged with regenerative and agroecological food systems. Bernard delves further into this important topic in this blog, outlining how policymakers, investors and other actors can help break down these barriers and boost youth engagement in food systems. Regen10
Non-profit Organizations
A global endeavor exploring potential to scale productive and regenerative food systems for people, nature, and climate.
About us
Regen10 aims to build a shared understanding of how regenerative approaches can deliver positive outcomes for people, nature and climate. We serve existing leaders and practitioners in regenerative food systems and bring others on the journey through an approach that is based on evidence, knowledge and the lived experiences of farmers and other food system actors. There are many examples of regenerative and agroecological initiatives operating in different regions and at varying scales. We seek to draw on the learnings from these initiatives, build alignment on desired outcomes across stakeholders, and focus efforts on addressing existing gaps. Drawing on our discussions with food system actors, we have identified five key actions that we will focus on to achieve our goals: building an evidence-base and a shared understanding of what it will take to scale regenerative food systems, developing a holistic Outcomes Framework, connecting a growing network of regenerative practitioners across the globe, helping create an enabling policy and finance environment, and fostering global momentum towards regenerative food systems transformation. Our partners include The Food and Land Use Coalition, Global Alliance for the Future of Food, IUCN, Leaders’ Quest, Meridian Institute, Sustainable Food Trust, Systemiq, 1000 Landscapes, WBCSD, and World Farmers’ Organisation. If you’re interested in getting involved, please visit our website to find out more.

🍵This new instalment in our #TransitionPathways series explores tea, coffee, maize and beans in Kenya’s Murang’a County. Our analysis suggests that transitions could generate around USD $125 million for Murang’a County’s agricultural landscapes within a 10-year period. But it is imperative that the costs of transition are shared between all food system actors, and that farmers have the support they need to adopt regenerative and agroecological practices, including: 🍃Publicly- and philanthropically- funded technical aid 🍃Tailored and sufficient financial support 🍃Protected land ownership This Transition Pathways brief was developed in partnership with PELUM Kenya Association – a network of organizations dedicated to supporting small-scale farmers👩🌾 Swipe below for key insights, and read the full brief on our website ⬇️ https://lnkd.in/eXk93y5w #Regen10 #FoodSystems #Regenerative #Agroecology #Kenya

Transforming Agriculture: Empowering Smallholder Farmers for a Sustainable Future. At TAWI, we believe that the future of agriculture is built on trust, transparency, and resilience. Our CEO, Cherotich Rutto, shares her insights on how we can drive meaningful transformation by equipping smallholder farmers with the tools, knowledge, and market access they need to thrive. In her latest feature for the Regen10 blog, Chero explores: ✅ The challenges farmers face in accessing finance and fair markets ✅ The power of digital solutions in strengthening agricultural ecosystems ✅ Why collaboration is key to sustainable food systems Read the full blog here 👉 https://lnkd.in/dM4-5NJw #AgricultureTransformation #SustainableFarming #SmallholderFarmers #TAWI #InnovationInAgriculture

We're thrilled that Cherotich Rutto of Tawi Fresh Kenya has penned a blog for Regen10 in which she outlines how smallholder farmers can be supported and empowered through collaboration and innovative finance. TAWI Fresh - a digital marketplace connecting farmers across Kenya with commercial buyers - is committed to creating an agricultural value chain with higher incomes, more jobs and enterprise growth. Collaboration is a key part of achieving this goal, and Cherotich identifies three main strands to generating strong collaborative efforts: 🤝Knowledge sharing 🧑🌾Inclusive supply chains 📱Harnessing technology Financial support for food systems remains critically low, and Cherotich outlines the innovative financial models that can support sustainable practices. She also reviews the ways in which stakeholders and collaborative action can help create trusted and transparent markets. As part of Regen10’s #FrameworkTrials in Nebraska, we visited Brian, a fifth generation farmer who works on 1,600 acres of land🧑🌾 Brian showed the team how he is shifting towards more sustainable farming practices for his corn, soybean and cattle. He is pictured below doing soil tests to understand the form and strength of the growing conditions in the ground. Healthy soils are a critical component of farmers’ ability to provide food and directly impacts yield and quality of outputs. By embracing regenerative and agroecological approaches, as Brian has demonstrated, soil health can be improved, meaning, for example, that it can hold more water. Our thanks to all those who helped with the trials, spotlighting the change that is happening on-the-ground 👏 Learn more from Regen10: https://lnkd.in/exHnEC2Y Are you a farmer transitioning towards regenerative approaches? In our latest blog, Rosinah Mbenya of PELUM Kenya Association details how her organization is at the forefront of advancing the rights of smallholder farmers and pastoralists, while also serving as an educational hub to explore agricultural practices. She delves into how ecological land use management can support an equitable food systems’ transition, and notes the importance of Regen10’s Outcomes Framework and Transition Pathways analyses. We will shortly be releasing a new Transition Pathways analysis on the costs and benefits of regenerative and agroecological approaches in Murang’a County, Kenya, in partnership with PELUM. Next up in the #FrameworkTrials series - where we spotlight some of the farms that trialed the Regen10 Outcomes Framework - we head to Graham’s farm in Nebraska🌾 Graham is a fifth-generation soy and corn farmer, who is gradually transitioning towards regenerative farming to build up the resilience and success of his farm. As part of the transition, Graham has started growing fruit and nut trees – diversifying his income streams – and monitors soil health through sample testing, including water absorption and species counting. By increasing the diversity of his products, Graham is spreading production risk which increases economic resilience of the farm as well as boosting biodiversity. Graham runs an organization called GC Resolve, which focuses on grassroots community development, mobilization, and education to build regenerative and resilient communities 🤝 (link in comments) To find out more about Graham’s farm, read Olivia Boothman's blog (link in comments)⬇️ #regenerativeagriculture #Regen10
