Great experience hosting a side event at the COP16Riyadh in KSA. It is always inspiring to hear Helmy Abouleish speak about the SEKEM Group and the miracle of greening the desert. He was joined by Thoraya Seada, a leader at Economy of Love carbon standard that is transforming the livelihoods of farmers in Egypt and soon in other countries. Willem Ferwerda, founder of Commonland, gave us great insights into how to build up long lasting partnerships to finance landscape restoration. Over a decade now that #4Returns framework has been implemented and the evidences are there to prove its effectiveness, particularly in the case of AlVelAl. My great partner Tristano Bacchetti De Gregoris, head of SAE Innova, brought to the table that financing instruments, such as carbon farming credits, must be seen as catalysts for the holistic transformation that the rural system needs to achieve climate resilience, social improvements and sustainable food production in challenging times. Farms4ClimateProject - a PRIMA Partnership project - is responsible for building this collaborative effort and for years of work to support smallholder rural communities to achieve a next level. I’m honored to represent the consortium on such a high level platform. #UNCCD #RIYADH #PRIMA

🌅 The Spanish sun sets on GOV4ALL's 2nd GA, hosted by the Altiplano Estepario Living Lab in Guadix. Three days of presentations, workshops and field visits has given partners a lot to mull over as the project continues to gain ground. The meeting has served as an opportunity to boost collaborative efforts towards the kind of models we can implement to bring about healthier soils. Project partners swapped perspectives on the kind of challenges they face in their respective Mediterranean regions, and came together to discuss how co-designed solutions not only regenerate the natural environment but can create new and innovative opportunities for local communities. SAE Innova’s Tristano Bacchetti De Gregoris, GOV4ALL coordinator, added: “It is an incredible experience to see people from so many diverse backgrounds working side by side to identify solutions for our broken farming system. In face of climate change and desertification, a regenerative movement is gaining momentum across the Mediterranean, and everything indicates that the consortium will play a key part in its development."
