Excited to be at the 32nd Irish Conference on Artificial Intelligence and Cognitive Science (AICS) at University College Dublin this week! What makes this event particularly special is that I’m presenting three papers with my incredibly talented students as the main authors. Abhijeet Madhusudan Rao created an AI pipeline to automatically count white and red blood cells from a blood smear. The work was done in collaboration with Kiang Wei Kho and Vitaliy Mykytiv. Suraj Prasannan Nair forecasted the perceived fatigue in repetitive physical tasks in industry 4.0 settings using sensors. Marco Sica and Salvatore T.'s expertise and insights have been crucial for the success of this project. Finally, Cian Kiely and Nicola Rossberg used AI to inform the design of medical tools for lactate detection. Shree Krishnamoorthy data and domain knowledge played a fundamental part in this work. This shows the quality of the UCC's School of Computer Science & Information Technology graduates. The three works arose from collaborations between our school and Tyndall National Institute, in particular with the Irish Photonic Integration Centre and the Wireless Sensor Networks group.
