It’s been a busy first few days at #Davos2025 during #WEF, filled with meaningful conversations and powerful insights. After landing in Zurich and boarding a train through the beautiful Swiss countryside, I struck up an incredible conversation with another passenger. We discovered we were both war refugees from the Middle East with backgrounds in medical science. What followed was a deep, personal connection that went beyond work— thanks to Ardem Patapoutian for an inspiring reminder of the power of shared experiences and human connection. Once in Davos, we met with key leaders, including Dr. Saeed Mohammed Al-Saqri, Minister of Economy of Oman, and Aisha Al Saifi, IPMA, MSc, Vice President of Oman National Program for Private Sector & Foreign Trade Development, to discuss their relationship-centered approach to economic development. Their emphasis on relationships over transactions deeply resonates with our belief that strong economies are built on trust and collaboration. At the Oman House, I also connected with Farzam Kamalabadi, thanks to an introduction from my good friend Sid Mofya. It’s always amazing how small the world feels when shared connections lead to new relationships. At the Social Innovation House, I spent time with Jessie Lam, one of our Scale For ClimateTech advisory board members, and we explored strategies to advance climate action. I also had a powerful discussion ahead of today’s panel with Sabrina Gracias, CFA and Vooha Vellanki, where we dove into youth mental health, discussing systemic challenges and the complex realities schools and communities face. Later, I had the opportunity to speak about ways to shape the future of global youth mental health alongside Vooha Vellanki, Sabrina Gracias, Katherine (Kathy) Hay ICD.D, and Diana Chao, MBA. These engagements reinforced the importance of collaboration and the value of diverse perspectives in tackling such critical issues. Beyond panels and meetings, the buzz around AI, the growing focus on the role of youth, and even a President Zelenskyy sighting at the Ukraine House made it clear that innovation and inclusivity remain at the forefront of global initiatives. Humbled and energized by the insights and connections so far—there’s so much more to come!
