The Sustainable Rice Platform (SRP) is a multi-stakeholder alliance comprising over 100 institutional members. SRP promotes resource-use efficiency and climate change resilience in rice systems – both on-farm and throughout value chains – and pursues voluntary market transformation initiatives by developing sustainable production standards, indicators, incentive mechanisms and outreach mechanisms to boost wide-scale adoption of sustainable best practices in rice production.

  • 🌾✨ Reflecting on the 𝟯𝗿𝗱 𝗚𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗥𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 & 𝗘𝘅𝗵𝗶𝗯𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰 As we wrap up this transformative event, we are filled with gratitude and inspiration from two days of impactful discussions, innovative solutions, and meaningful collaboration. 🌟 𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗧𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗮𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝟮: • 𝗦𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗦𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆: Experts explored pathways to mobilize investment and scale sustainable rice practices through innovative financial mechanisms, including a $1 million commitment for sustainable rice financing. • 𝗗𝗲𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗯𝗼𝗻𝗶𝘇𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗥𝗶𝗰𝗲: Insightful strategies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions were shared, including adopting alternate wetting and drying (AWD), methane-reduction innovations, and carbon markets, which have enabled $46 million in payouts to growers. • 𝗙𝗮𝗿𝗺𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿: Empowering farmers through education is crucial to advancing sustainable rice. Discussions underscored the importance of helping farmers understand sustainable practices as holistic solutions that boost resilience, incomes, and environmental outcomes. • 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗔𝗰𝗿𝗼𝘀𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗩𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗶𝗻: Case studies highlighted the power of multi-stakeholder partnerships in transforming rice production, including successful projects in Thailand and Vietnam that reduced carbon footprints by up to 50% and increased farmer incomes by 30%. • 𝗖𝗹𝗼𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗥𝗲𝗳𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀: The conference concluded with a powerful call to action, uniting the global rice community to secure a sustainable future for food, climate, and livelihoods.
