We're excited to be featured in this recent SF Chronicle article about how autonomous vehicles are transforming mobility for the blind and visually impaired community! Transportation challenges significantly impact our clients' lives - from missed appointments to limited access to opportunities. As our CEO Karae Lisle shares in the article, autonomous vehicles like Waymo represent a promising solution that's "going to change their lives." https://lnkd.in/gB9QK85j Watch this Sight Tech Global video featuring two of our blind staff members experiencing a Waymo ride! https://lnkd.in/g3gacaat While our locations are currently outside Waymo's service area, we're eagerly looking forward to their expansion and the enhanced independence this technology will bring to our community. #Accessibility #AutonomousVehicles #VisuallyImpaired #Innovation #SightTechGlobal
San Francisco Bay Area residents who are blind or have low vision report that using Waymo robo-taxi is changing their lives and increasing independence. Many people who are blind or have low vision often get denied services from Uber or Lyft, especially if they have a guide dog or service dog. Key benefits Waymo users can enjoy: 🚖 Users can remotely honk the cars horn to help them identify where it is parked. 🚖 During the ride, users can opt in to audio cues which describe when the car is stopping at a light or yielding to pedestrians. 🚖 At drop-off, the app offers turn-by-turn walking directions to a rider’s exact destination.
