Between October 10th and 15th, 2024, the Abiy Ahmed regime in Ethiopia carried out more than 23 military drone and jet strikes. These attacks specifically targeted civilians and public infrastructure. The strikes massacred more than 300 civilians and caused widespread destruction of properties in the North, West, and East Gojjam Zones of the Amhara Region. Key targets included schools, health centers, churches, farmers' homes, and other essential public services. The attacks disrupted access to education, healthcare, and religious services and severely impacted economic activities, trade, and agricultural livelihoods. Australian Prime Minister Albanese calls culprits of Melbourne’s synagogue fire, ‘Terrorists,’ but ignores destruction by Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) of 814 mosques and three churches in Gaza. The IDF caused probable deaths of 200,000 Palestinians. Their North Gaza siege focuses on eliminating hospitals, medical staff, journalists and refugees sheltering in UN schools. HRW proved Israel is destroying water-treatment systems and prevents drinking water delivery. While global condemnation grows, there is one disturbing aspect demanding immediate attention of Leaders: Australians involved in the IDF. Australia, as signatory to international treaties and a nation built on values of fairness and human rights, must uphold responsibilities to oppose war crimes. Gaza’s Civil Defense reported that at least 17 people were killed and many others injured in the bombing of Hamama School in the Sheikh Radwan neighborhood. According to Al-Jazeera, Israeli aircraft initially targeted the school with a direct missile strike, followed by a series of additional raids. The second assault on Hamama School involved three missiles, striking while ambulance teams were attempting to rescue victims from the first attack. These raids completely destroyed the school, causing more deaths and trapping several people under the rubble. The school had been sheltering a large number of displaced families, including women and children among the casualties. Despite a UN Security Council resolution demanding an immediate ceasefire, Israel continues its brutal offensive on Gaza, facing international condemnation. According to Gaza’s Ministry of Health, the ongoing genocide that began on October 7 has resulted in 39,550 Palestinian deaths and 91,280 injuries. Additionally, at least 11,000 people are unaccounted for, presumed dead under the rubble of their homes throughout the Strip. The West Bank is not being spared with airstrikes resulting in more casualties, including children. Over recent years, Israel has intensified its military operations in the West Bank, often citing security reasons. However, these operations have led to significant civilian casualties. According to reports from organizations such as the United Nations and Human Rights Watch, dozens of Palestinians, including children, have been killed during Israeli raids. In 2023, Israeli forces carried out numerous airstrikes in the Jenin refugee camp, marking the first time airstrikes were used in the West Bank in years. The strikes, combined with ground operations, led to the deaths of both militants and civilians. These attacks are part of a broader pattern of military escalation that disproportionately affects Palestinian civilians, often including children, as confirmed by reports from UNICEF and the Palestinian Ministry of Health. Such violence exacerbates the already dire humanitarian situation in the West Bank and raises concerns about violations of international law and human rights.
