These are really useful in the cattery and kennels (as modelled by Parsley looking cosy with his donated blankets here). We can’t take duvets or pillows sorry, they're tricky to wash and get messy if ripped. • Office items. If you run an office or business printer, you can have a collection box from #RecycleForCharity which donates to us for every recycled cartridge. And if you are having an office clear out, take a look at #AGoodThingUK who match businesses with equipment to charities who can claim it. • Pre-loved clothes and accessories. Perhaps you’ve grown out of it, or out of love with it, but you think someone else would wear it? Then either drop it in to one of our five Charity Shops, or add onto eBay as a charity listing. • Pet items. We welcome new and nearly-new pet items. Things that would be useful include dog harnesses, pet beds and blankets, cat scratching posts, toys and coats. Apart from the printer cartridges, all other items can be donated to our Charity Shops or to our rehoming centre at Claverton Down. Some organizations, like YACHTS DU COEUR will even handle donations for you. With a bit of effort, you can avoid the convenience trap and ensure your items find a second life where they’re truly appreciated.

Donating the pacemaker can even save the dog's owner the cost of a new one, which can sometimes make a crucial difference in affording life-saving treatment If you have a pacemaker fitted and are being cremated but would like to donate your pacemaker to a vet to save the life of a dog after you have gone, then just contact your local vet and confirm that they would be able to use it and then instruct your Will drafter to write that specific legacy within your Will which will ensure that your executor(s) can make the appropriate arrangements with the crematorium and the vet you have nominated when the time comes.

Over the past two weeks, Asheville has been flooded with love. From local, state, and federal agencies (yes, they are ALL here, but that’s a different post). Joe, Hank, Alice and I have been doing shifts at a grassroots collection and distribution site. The generosity is staggering. Thank you, thank you, thank you! But the needs are now evolving. Our site alone could no longer accept water, clothing, OTC meds, and much more. They have SO much. And that’s only one site. Other mountain areas (Boone, Marshall, Spruce Pine, and countless others) may need supplies, but Asheville now has what it needs to meet folks basic needs. However, restaurants can’t open bc there’s no water, and many want to pay their staff regardless. Farmers can’t sell to restaurants, so they’re donating their produce for distribution by food banks. Tried to find the easiest way for people to participate in a way that streamlines things for all & fills a particular need. ⛑🌪 📦 We are serving as a donation hub for plastic storage tubs that are desperately needed for donations & salvageable items ⛑🌪 📦 - We are just far enough from ground zero to avoid the traffic jams & can easily get them transported directly to those in need that can't get deliveries at this time due to roads being blocked/shut down - Welcome all sizes but large ones are the most needed at this time - If you want to go above & beyond, fill them with plastic forks, spoons & strong disposable plates - Drop them off at my home or have them delivered via DoorDash or Amazon, Venmo, Zelle, etc. (private message me for details & I will send those your way) to ensure privacy for all is kept secure - Once they have been used for the tornado victims, they will be re-donated to charity for continued use free of charge for those in need
