"Sustainable Charcoal Production: Exploring Green Technologies" one day seminar organized by the Coconut Development Board (CDB) on 3rd October 2024 at the Golden Jubilee Hall, Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU), Coimbatore. SCS is a cutting-edge solution designed to efficiently convert diverse biomass types into high-quality charcoal, a crucial raw material for producing activated carbon and other eco-friendly coal alternatives. During the fourth Renewable Energy Investor Meet in Gujarat, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was introduced to the world's first solar tile made from plastic waste, developed by a local startup. This innovation is a major advancement in addressing plastic pollution and achieving renewable energy goals. Weighing just 3 kg, the tile is very durable and can handle regular foot traffic. A gift for Prime Minister Modi showcased Gujarat's Modhera Sun Temple, representing the state’s leadership in renewable energy. Entrepreneur Shani Pandya, founder and CEO of Imagine Powertree Private Limited is the driving force behind this initiative. He has ingeniously crafted a solar tile made from more than 350 single-use plastic wrappers, cleverly converting waste into a sustainable energy solution. This innovative tile tackles two pressing environmental issues: the management of plastic waste and the generation of clean energy, all while advancing India's bold sustainability objectives. The government is considering financial support for this eco-friendly innovation, even though it's not currently subsidized. One of the largest battery recycling plant in India is likely to be set up at SIPCOT’s future mobility park at Shoolagiri in Krishnagiri. Talks are progressing with a key player in the sector, according to official sources, who refused to divulge further details. The firm will not only recycle used batteries but also electrical and rare earth magnets. Thiru Srinivasan, senior advisor (Electric Vehicles) for Tamil Nadu government, said that the battery facility, which is likely to come up on 20 acres, will also recycle rare earth magnets to secure the supply of sustainable rare earth materials to support growth of electric vehicles. Rare earth magnets are a main component found in electric motors. By starting a tender procedure, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corp (Amc) has taken a big step toward #sustainable trash management. This tender requests proposals for the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model of Design, Build, Erection, Commissioning, Operation, and Maintenance of a state-of-the-art 300 Tons Per Day (TPD) Capacity Municipal Solid Waste Steam Plant. A representative for the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation stressed that this project, which uses the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model to route 300 TPD of municipal solid trash to a steam plant, demonstrates their unwavering dedication to sustainable practices and creative waste management #solutions. With a population of more than 63 lakhs, Ahmedabad is the seventh-largest metropolis in #India. Every day, the city produces over 4000 metric tons of solid waste. While different waste kinds offer serious health dangers, the breakdown of #organicwaste in landfills emits dangerous greenhouse gases. Therefore, it is essential to switch to sustainable waste management techniques. The company STEAM HOUSE INDIA, which has its main office in #Surat, #Gujarat, has been given the project. The advanced #facility will take up five acres at the Pirana Waste disposal site.
