Juneteenth: How We Can Educate and Celebrate Today As we honor this significant day in history, it's important to both educate ourselves about its origins and actively celebrate the progress we've made. Here are some meaningful ways to engage with Juneteenth: Learn the History: Listen, learn, and be involved. Visit local museums like the African American History Museum in Washington D.C., or go to your local library and look for African American Literature, History books, and films. Titles like "The Warmth of Other Suns" by Isabel Wilkerson and films like "13th" by Ava DuVernay offer deep insights. Support Black-Owned Businesses: It's important to contribute to economic empowerment by supporting Black-owned businesses. This can be a powerful way to celebrate and uplift the community, and finding them is only a Google search away. Volunteer or Donate: Support organizations dedicated to social justice and equality. Volunteering your time or donating to causes that uplift marginalized communities can make a tangible impact. Happy Juneteenth! www.korecc.com/blogs #Juneteenth #Educate #Celebrate

For #HispanicHeritageMonth consider going to your organization’s “Charitable Giving online program” (I.e. Benevity or others) and selecting Veronica Robles Cultural Center (VROCC). We are an organization that promotes Latin American arts and cultures as an engine for stronger communities and economic growth. If we aren’t in the system, your community relations, or social impact leader can point you in the right direction. During Hispanic Heritage Month (Sep 15 to Oct 15) some organizations will double or triple match contributions to Latino organizations. A great way to make your donation go a long way. Consider us when selecting your community impact contribution!!! If you are a Hispanic or Latino ERG leader consider in Massachusetts, consider making a difference in your DEI community pillar strategy by highlighting organizations like VROCC!! #erggiving #socialimpact #latinos #hispanic #charitablecontribution #employeegiving #magnifyyourcontribution #communitygiving #benevity #charitablegiving #community #employeerrsourcegroup #affinitygroup #businessresourcegroup #brg

I have been thinking a lot lately about how to stay true to your values in difficult political times, as charities & non-profits who rely on government funding. As a feminist and a queer person I find the US election results horrifying and devastating. But fear & despair are not what we need right now. I offer three words: Courage, Connection and Community. Courage: Speak out, stand up and openly and publicly express your position. Connection: seek solidarity with like minded folks, build new coalitions and alliances, and lean on each other. Community: If you support or serve a community, what do they want? What do they need? What does their experience teach you? Sending all of you courage, connection and community in these dark times.

As a fundraising professional with my own Give to the Max Day Goals it might seem a little odd for me to recommend an additional organization to send your GTMD dollars to, but I believe in the abundance of our community! The truth is, having multiple organizations thriving as they work for the good of our community means that each of us has the capacity to build upon our strengths and leverage our impact! I fundraise for a children's mental health organization, and I know, especially right now while anxiety is high among the LGBTQIA2S+ community, having organizations like Queer Space investing in the lives of youth will go a long, long way to support their mental wellbeing. Community, mentorship, education, and advocacy go a long way in creating psychological safety! So, this Give to the Max Day- of course I want to you to pitch in to help my organization be successful, but I also want you to consider investing in organizations like Queer Space! We need one another. Especially now!
Let's take QUEERSPACE to the max—together, with humility and care. We know this is a tender time for our community. As a nonprofit, we’re obligated to fundraise to keep our programs going, but we also recognize that this ask may feel difficult in the wake of the election. If it feels right, we invite you to make a gift to support our new 2SLGBTQIA+ Youth Center for Give to the Max Day. If financial support isn’t possible, we welcome you to share our message, follow along on our journey, and stand with us in whatever way feels right for you. Every contribution—no matter the size or form—is deeply appreciated by all of us at QUEERSPACE. 🌈 Donate at https://lnkd.in/gHBER7Rm. All gifts made through November 21 count toward our $50,000 goal to #CreateTheSpace for Queer youth across Minnesota. #GTMD24

We need to give Gen Z more credit. Gen Z are not just passive supporters. They’re active, vocal, and relentless in their advocacy. For the last 10 months I’ve watched young people from around the world amplifying the voices of Palestinians and spreading the information about the #GazaGenocide. They've been supporting endless Gofundme pages, submitting evidence to International Court of Justice (ICJ), organising stunts and protests, calling MPs and pushing out messages of your charities on #CEASEFIRENOW. But many times in charity sector, they’re overlooked. And that’s mostly because young people are less likely to be regular givers. And while one of your main objectives is to fundraise, you shouldn't underestimate the importance of their activism. Why? 🍉 Gen Z interacts more with content that grabs their attention. 🍉 This means that they're the messengers who deliver your message to other audiences that are more likely to take real action. 🍉 Their interest in social justice and activism often fits well with your charity’s mission. 🍉 By matching their values and communication style, you create a loyal community that supports your cause. You simply can’t afford to overlook this powerhouse of digital activism. Building that relationship right now is an investment in long term loyalty. So find that common tongue with Gen Z. You need them. #GenZ #socialmedia #charity #digitalactivism #FreePalestine 🍉
