🌟 Great news for Bio4Fuels and our stakeholders! The SUPRA.NO proposal led by SINTEF Industry has received funding from The Research Council of Norway. SUPRA.NO is about creating infrastructure to allow a holistic value chain approach to the sustainable production of fuels, platform chemicals and feed ingredients from underutilized renewable carbon sources. These sources could be waste biomass, plastics, and CO2. SUPRA.NOs holistic biochemical, thermochemical and electrochemical approach aims to bridge the gaps and accelerate the transition to a low-carbon society. It is a collaborative national initiative with participants from key research groups at SINTEF Industry, SINTEF Energy Research, Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), NIBIO Norwegian Institute of Bioeconomy Research, NMBU - Norwegian University of Life Sciences, and RISE PFI.   #NFR #INFRA #biomass #CO2 #plastic

A grant of €29.5m from the EU Innovation Fund has been provided to Plagazi. The purpose of this grant, was to hep the company accomplish the task of scaling the flagship waste-to-hydrogen production project, which is currently under development. ARACON 2024 in Rotterdam was an absolute blast! There was so much energy in the room and the presentations, panel discussions and delegate conversations unpacked the conference theme - what should a fit-for-purpose bunker industry look like? – quite brilliantly.   Not surprisingly, EU and IMO regulation was a key topic, along with digitalisation, bunker fuel quality and the role of biofuels in the future fuel mix. There were also great discussions about what leadership looks like in the evolving marine fuels sector, and the pivotal role of ARA and other ports in facilitating the energy transition.   Some ARACON takeaways…   🔍 Regulation is imperfect - CII certainly needs revisiting - but FuelEU Maritime does have the potential to be a gamechanger for the industry.   🥕 First movers need more incentives to keep up the momentum on decarbonisation – it can’t always be about the ‘stick’ of environmental regulation.   💻 Bunkering should embrace digitalisation – and it means so much more than installing a mass flow meter on bunker barge. Using the power of data is transforming the way we work and can introduce much needed transparency, accuracy and efficiency into industry practices.   ARACON 2024 showed that change is happening and that the bunker industry really doesn’t have a ‘head in the sand’ approach to its future - it is engaged, proactive and willing to share experiences. Swedish company Plagazi has been awarded a €29.5 million grant from the EU Innovation Fund to enhance its technology for converting waste into hydrogen. This substantial funding will support the expansion of Plagazi's projects, aiming to scale up its innovative plasma gasification process for sustainable hydrogen production. Earlier this year, the European Investment Bank (EIB) partnered with Plagazi to support the Köping Hydrogen Park (KHP) project in Sweden. This project aims to produce 12,000 tonnes of hydrogen annually from 66,000 tonnes of unrecyclable waste and provide 10 MW of district heating to the local community.
