📢Retrospective: The UNDP office in Angola has been expanding its portfolio in the agricultural and renewable energy sectors, promoting sustainable energy solutions for a better future. In April, the Cubal Administration in Benguela, in partnership with #UNDPAngola, inaugurated a Solar Energy and Irrigation Systems Center thanks to #TRAC2 funds from #UNDP, allocated in 2022 to promote #renewableenergy initiatives in the country. Thanks to this initiative, 50 families in the Cubal region now have access to renewable energy through photovoltaic systems. The initiative aims to promote sustainable businesses led by young people and women, providing access to clean and affordable energy. This effort aligns with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP)'s commitment to increasing access to clean energy for 100 million people across Africa, strengthening rural cooperatives, and promoting inclusive and sustainable growth while reducing economic inequalities. Equipping subnational governments with a locally led, locally owned #opensource modelling toolkit is key for the applicability and relevance of the integrated energy plans. Delighted to see the use of Energy Access Explorer to inform the prioritization of energy interventions and the use of OnSSET - Open Source Spatial Electrification Tool to estimate technology and investment outlooks for #Makueni. But even the greatest plans can remain plans without political leadership. That's why this conversation is so important!

Thank you very much GOGLA for the mention! This grant from Efficiency for Access is pivotal in our strategic journey, enabling us to accelerate the development of high-efficiency AC motors. These motors will not only enhance our current offerings but also pave the way for deploying agri-processing machinery in minigrids and standalone renewable energy systems. Historically, inefficient and high inrush currents of induction motors have posed significant challenges in operating agricultural and food processing machinery. Our innovative AC motors address this issue, representing a significant win for both agriculture and renewable energy! It was an honor to share these advancements with Carlos Sordo and Brenda Luisa Marbaniang during their visit earlier this year. We're thrilled to report that our aspirations are becoming a reality. We eagerly anticipate continued collaboration within the GOGLA PURE Working Groups.
