Congratulations to Marcia Ashong-Sam, MCIArb on being named one of the 100 most influential Africans! I really enjoyed this write-up of Marcia Ashong-Sam, MCIArb and The Boardroom Africa. I've had the pleasure of getting to know Marcia as we've both been @B-WEL Fellows this year. (I've also joined TBrA as a member.) Marcia truly combines vison and strategy with grace and strength. Study after study shows the positive impact diversity on boards has on corporations. Yet, we still do not see a great deal of diversity on corporate boards. Marcia and the team at The Boardroom Africa are working to change that by providing training, developing relationships, and sourcing qualified female candidates for board seats. In her words: “I saw how systems were guiding women away from being part of the decision making. I saw how difficult it was to keep going at the rate I was without being pushed down by the patriarchal setting. There was a constant need to always have allies, to work harder than everybody else...When I see a gap in the social fabric, I want to do something about it. But I wanted to come from a business-case perspective… to being a really practical solution for business, merging the traditional advocacy approach with the need for business to maximise profits. Add to that the importance of creating access to opportunity and how we continue to give women the resources they need to build their leadership capacity. It was important that TBrA took a multi-pronged approach.” https://lnkd.in/erH5yx3U #Leadership #Strategy #Africa #Boards #CorporateBoards
Absolutely agree with Marcia Ashong-Sam, MCIArb : “If you don’t have good governance frameworks, the environmental and social considerations cannot be effectively integrated into decision-making processes.”
These are the rebels who break down walls and doors for us. Have had the pleasure of getting to know Marcia Ashong-Sam, MCIArb and she is consistent effective and a great champion for women! #women #boardroom #TheTulleBox

6moAfua Bruce, you hit the nail on the head. It's really about transforming the narrative and positioning diversity in terms of its multiplier effect—the goodwill coupled with the enhancement of decision-making and, consequently, its knock-on effect on the bottom line. More of these conversations need to be had from a positioning that it can actually be win-win. I appreciate this special plug, sister. Thank you. We have a lot more work to do 🙏
