Every 2 minutes a woman dies of cervical cancer!!!! Over 90% of the 348 000 deaths from cervical cancer in 2022 occurred in low- and middle-income countries. WHO’s Global Strategy for Cervical Cancer Elimination, launched on 17 November 2020, lays out a clear path to eliminating the disease. The strategy sets out 3 clear targets to meet by 2030 to put countries on the path to elimination: 90% of girls vaccinated against HPV by age 15 70% of women screened with a high-performance test by age 35 and again at 45 90% of women with cervical disease receiving treatment. Call to action: Don't Wait! #getscreened today!!!

Our call for global gender-neutral HPV vaccination was launched yesterday at the World Cancer Congress in Geneva. It's a joint initiative led by GAMH and NOMAN is an Island: Race to End HPV and supported by 22 organisations, three of which (World Federation of Public Health Associations, European Cancer Organisation and MENA Coalition for HPV Elimination) were represented by speakers at the launch meeting. For me, gender-neutral HPV vaccination is personal. Growing up in Nigeria, I’ve seen how preventable cancers have taken a toll on families. We’ve long thought HPV is just a women’s issue, but that’s not true. Men are affected too, and knowing that something as simple as a vaccine could change lives makes this an urgent priority. When I heard about the global push for equal access to this vaccine, it struck me deeply. It’s about fairness—protecting everyone, no matter their gender, and preventing unnecessary suffering in the future. #HPV #Prevention #MensHealth #WomensHealth #ProtectOurFuture

🌍 Today is Cervical Cancer Elimination Day of Action which marks 4 years of the global movement! As of 2022, cervical cancer affects over 660,000 women globally, with more than 350,000 deaths—and it’s completely preventable. In the U.S. alone, @AmericanCancerSociety predicts in 2024 that 13,820 women will be diagnosed and 4,360 lives will be lost to this disease💉 The HPV vaccine is proven to prevent up to 90% of cervical cancers. If everyone were vaccinated at the recommended age, we could eliminate cervical cancer worldwide within a generation. Coupled with routine screenings, this goal is within reach! • • • #CervicalCancerAwareness #HPVvaccine #EndCervicalCancer #VAX2STOPCANCER

India gets its own HPV vaccine to stop 70,000 women dying of cervical cancer a year. It has taken 18 years for India to produce its own affordable version to tackle the country’s second-biggest cause of cancer deaths among women. Cervical cancer is the second biggest cause of cancer deaths among women in India, killing an estimated 70,000 a year – a quarter of the global burden of the disease. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), cervical cancer is the fourth most common cancer in women worldwide, with about 90% of deaths from the disease occuring in low- and middle-income countries. https://lnkd.in/dGcEW-8C

This week began with a powerful reminder of Global Cervical Cancer Elimination Day. Although the day has passed, the fight to eliminate cervical cancer is far from over. In the UK alone, 3,300 women are diagnosed with cervical cancer every year, yet it’s staggering to know that 99.8% of these cases are preventable! Cervical cancer can be prevented through vaccination, screening, and early treatment—but millions of women still lack access to these life-saving resources. At RDi, we are committed to improving healthcare, and we’ve been working hard to develop our at-home #HPV testing kits. The healthcare industry is on the verge of transforming HPV and cervical cancer diagnosis and management, and our HPV collection kits are a step forward in making routine screening more accessible to a wider population. Let’s keep pushing toward a future where cervical cancer is a thing of the past! Contact us to learn more: https://lnkd.in/esh-MKYZ #CervicalCancerElimination #HealthForAll #GlobalHealth #Diagnostics

🔎Spotlighting: Vulvar Cancer Vulvar cancer is a rare gynecological cancer, accounting for only about 4% of cases, but early detection is key to survival. Like cervical and vaginal cancers, HPV is a significant risk factor, especially high-risk strains that can lead to precancerous changes. The incidence of vulvar cancer is rising among younger women, largely due to HPV infections. While it has an 86% 5-year survival rate when caught early, that rate drops significantly if it spreads. Early detection is key to survival! Raising awareness and promoting HPV vaccination is crucial for protection at all ages…young or old!
