Mike Casey was a former tech bro in Sydney, who, after selling his software startup, decided to move back to New Zealand where he grew up to become a farmer. Now he grows electric cherries, has electrified every machine on his farm, powers those machines with his farm solar system, and is saving a total of $40,000 a year in energy bills. He is also the CEO of a charity called Rewiring Aotearoa and has a goal of electrifying 10 million fossil fuel machines in NZ by 2030, because it saves on emissions but most importantly, it saves money. Mike is set to be one of the incredible speakers at our event in Perth on June 10 - The Power Shift: Transitioning Farm Communities to Renewables! Tickets for this event are only $20 and can be purchased via Eventbrite - https://lnkd.in/gPgsjrGz #NetZero #RenewableEnergy #SustainableEnergy #EnergyTransition #ClimatePolicy
I'm on the whenua. Being a tangata, person, we have Land. With an idea of an electric dynamo! An eccentric genius suggested it could run our whole village. What are your ideas?
And he's an awesome skier! Ryan and I met Mike on the chairlift at Cardrona. He's a great guy to do laps with and chat about electrification of farming! Good on ya, Mike!
