Mostly my posts are about my work at Mazars (Mazars in Germany) but I think it’s good to show sometimes what people are doing besides their main job. A few months ago I started with Concept Runners. An initiative for motivating people to start or keep moving, running especially. An idea originated during the covid period, when people were stuck to their homes, in need for motivation to go out. I organised challenges and started a local running community called ‘Viaanse Lopers’. Not the best name for going international, so Concept Runners was born. The essention is in the name. Creating running concepts to make run more fun, motivation to go out 💪🏻 Today I started a new challenge, the U-Bahn challenge. A very simple idea, but with good visualisation a big motivator! Those challenges can be done individually but also in groups of friends or colleagues. Do you want to motivate your employees? Let me know, we sit down and see what fits in your organisation. ‘Could we virtually run to all our locations across Germany, or maybe Europe? Which team/departmenr/location wins?’ 😏🏃🏼
📢 „Bitte alle aussteigen“ - Today we do the U-Bahn Challenge in Munich! 🏃🏼A good motivation for every runner! How does it work? 1. Put your running clothes on 2. Choose your U-Bahn line or random stations 3. Go for your run (don’t forget to track your run with Strava) 4. Send us your run via WhatsApp or website 5. … be a little patient 6. Check your personal map 🥳 Are you or is your organisation interested in the challenge? Let us know. We will create personal pages, including leaderboards, where you can track the progress. Wanna challenge your friends or colleagues? Also not a problem! This challenge has been developed for Munich now, but let us know which city you live or work and we will create the challenge! Check www.conceptrunners.com for more information! We are here to motivate and make run fun!

Did you attend the Sporting Heritage 2024 Conference? The 2024 Sporting Heritage Conference was held as a free online event on Thursday 9th May. Now you can explore this new section on our website and delve into: 🔵Session recordings. 🔵Information from our conference funder and sponsor 🔵All the supporting resources from the sporting heritage event of the year are now at your fingertips, equipping you with a wealth of knowledge and insights! As you may know, this year’s conference was initially planned as an in-person event. However, we made the thoughtful decision to change format to an online one, offering you the convenience of attending from the comfort of your own space. This change in format allowed us to offer the event as FREE to attend making the event more widely accessible. We know how much the sector values getting together in person, but over the past few years, we also acknowledge how resources and capacity to support this have reduced, especially following the impact of COVID-19 leaving a lasting change on how we work and how we consume content. So, worry not if you were unable to attend this year’s Sporting Heritage Conference because you can catch up on everything via our webinars. Don't post much on here but some people might be interested. In October I signed up for L'Etape du Tour de France, a chance to ride the route of stage 20 of this years Tour de France, 138km and 4600m of climbing, it's a tough challenge that requires proper preparation. The route and profile can be seen here: https://lnkd.in/eFe7TJpm One of my focuses was weight loss as Covid and some strong anti-inflamatories for a shoulder problem had pushed my weight up. It's hard to train for a 20km climb when you live in Hertfordshire so a lot of climbing has been on the indoor trainer, Rouvy has been great for this with a route that recreates the third climb of the day. I also used it when the weather was bad, my excuse being that riding through a wet January in the UK is not relevant training for Nice in July. as I train mostly on my own Strava has been usefull in tracking my progress, setting a fair few PBs for local segments, including my fastest ever 10m TT this week. At D day minus 10 my training is pretty much complete, will just keep the legs ticking over for the next week. For those who are interested, some numbers: am still 800g over my goal weight but not looking to lose anymore at the moment, but have dropped from 99kg to 86.5, total lost: 12.5kg, just under 2st. For comparison, I have lost over 1 and a half times the weight of my bike. Total distance ridden since I signed up in October: 3321km (2064miles), further than riding from Hitchin to Nice and back again. Total climbed: 42,250m (138,615ft), the same as riding from sea level to the top of Everest nearly five times. Hopefully this will be enough.

IMPORTANT UPDATE: FREE 2024 Sporting Heritage Online Conference Thursday 9th May – 9.45 am – 3.30 pm Change of conference format: We had planned to run this year's conference as an in-person event at the fantastic Headingly, but we have made the difficult decision to change the format to an online one. This change in format allows us to offer the event as FREE to attend. Changes across the sector: We know how much the sector values getting together in person, but over the past few years, we also acknowledge how resources and capacity to support this has reduced, especially following the impact of COVID-19, which has left a lasting change on how we work and how we consume content. It is clear that an in-person conference, with the ticket, travel, and accommodation costs that this attracts, does not work for a large proportion of the Sporting Heritage community. Existing ticket holders: If you have already bought a ticket to the in-person event, we will be in touch to refund you. All existing ticket holders will be automatically transferred to the online event. Find out more about this year's programme, our sponsors and how to book your FREE place HERE: https://bit.ly/3TAB430. #SportingHeritage24 #SportingEvents #Heritage

I'm a member of the the Golf Power Poll panel and this month the questions were about money in golf. One of the questions was concerning whether the vast amount of money 🤑 currently in professional golf is having an adverse effect on fans' interest - i.e., are fans actually turning off as purses astronomically increase? In my case, yes. And, according to the Power Poll results I am not alone in this opinion. Personally, I am less than excited about the 'Signature' events - a few are fine, but 8 is way too many - especially in this schedule shorten #Olympic year. Nick Dunlap winning twice on the PGA TOUR - once as an amateur - emphasizes the fact that ANYONE in the field can win and I (along with the players ranked 51-125/150) would like to see the return to more full field events - WITH more of the Top 50 in those fields. Or as a compromise to the 'elephant in the room' as the only time that LIV's top players now play against PGA TOUR & DP World Tour is the Majors – take 4 of those 8 Signature events and have 1/2 the field be LIV Golf players and half PGA Tour/ DP World Tour players with full OGWR points & the same purses (with the Public Investment Fund (PIF) contributing) so there starts to be some true relevance on who the best players actually are. Just a thought - Golf is truly a global game played by millions who love it - let's embrace and celebrate it, instead of fighting amongst the professional elite. See you on the #links!!! #golf #globalgame #professionalgolf #signatureevents #lovegolf #playgolf #amateurgolf #LIV #PGATOUR #DPWorldTour #PowerPoll #PowerPollGolf Scott Michaux 54 #celebrategolf #moneyinsport Joe Pompliano Tipesh Tank

Meanwhile in Germany, someone likes doing radical sports. While, in itself, this type of event is pretty happens in some networks of Europe, to maximize platform occupation, in my judgement, the speed of the Eurobahn train might be some what excessive for that context. To minimize the risks, when trains are running on sight (as is this case, no matter the legal definition of this), some networks impose a specific speed restriction, usually around 30 or 40 km/h. In the Portuguese case, I can tell you that it is 30 km/h but at this point would probably already have the ATP forcing me to slow to 15 km/h because of the "lack of overlap" approach to the signal at the end of the platform which usually happens whenever you get permissive working into a platform in Portugal. https://lnkd.in/d_G9ZVfp

This is the opposite of everything Crfted Events stands for. A great lesson on how to not get a great (ROE) return on experience. How would you feel if you have been training for 3.5 years to represent your country in the Olympic triathlon to learn that your event was cancelled and there wasn't contingency? The questions that come to mind: Will Paris ever be awarded the games again? Could the $1.5 billion have built an incredible space for the triathletes to compete for people to view? Is there any repercussions to wasting $1.5 billion? How will this impact guidelines and expectations for the future of global events?
