Last week our team visited the Parks and Recreation Department of the city of Tamarac to provide an in-person training surrounding inclusive events and programming. We are excited to continue offering trainings and support as Tamarac progresses towards becoming an Autism Inclusive City through HAAPE. Stay tuned and follow our journey! Over in my work for Single Parent Rights, we are developing a single parent policy for schools with ideas from our members. It's still a work in progress so I'd love to get more feedback from: 👉Single parents 👉People working in schools 👉Those working in Diversity and Inclusion There are ideas around: ✅Language and tone: free from judgement ✅Care and clubs: single parent priority access ✅School uniforms: pre loved schemes, borrow boxes and limited branded items ✅Parent conferences: separate for both parents where needed ✅Fees: payment brackets ✅Diversity and Inclusion: training for teachers ✅Special days: being as inclusive as possible ✅Building community: establishing single parent groups within the school These - and many others - are fleshed out in the policy document. 👇 You can download it from the Single Parent Rights website here (scroll down to the 'become a single parent inclusive school' button). 👇 🔗https://lnkd.in/etFib7BP
