Recently caught up with our PM Narendra Modi Ji and Bill Gates discussing the evolving digital landscape in India. Excited to see the progress we’ve made in making technology accessible to all, a theme I highlighted at MedFemTech Congress in Paris last year in collaboration with McKinsey & Company and Forbes France aiming to raise awareness about women’s health globally and catalyze funding opportunities in India. Key highlights of my presentation : India became the first country in the world to launch ( Unified Payments Interface ) UPI payments, ensuring every individuals even roadside vendors have access to online transactions. When we discuss the value of technology, Over 85% of Indian villages and towns have access to 4G networks. In India, the perspective on women's health technology, known as FemTech, is evolving. The diagnostic industry in India is still quite fragmented, with only 6% of the market organized under national players. This fragmented structure makes it difficult to provide accessible and quality healthcare across the country. To truly deliver healthcare where it’s most needed, we need to organize the diagnostic ecosystem and make healthcare services more efficient. The government has been supportive, with new policies and initiatives aimed at strengthening the sector, but reaching the masses remains a significant challenge. Ensuring that healthcare reaches every corner of the country is crucial, and this will require a robust framework, focused policies, and collaboration across industries. As we look ahead to India’s Vision 2047, achieving a developed nation, science and technology will be the driving force. The key to realizing a Viksit Bharat lies in developing and implementing cutting-edge technologies, especially in healthcare and diagnostics. However, there is a critical need for collaboration across private industry, academia, and government. The silos between these sectors need to be broken down, as the path forward requires joint efforts. Only through working together can we unlock the full potential of science and technology, and ensure that healthcare reaches every citizen of India.
