Trade fairs are highly relevant, extending their impact far beyond their specific industries. ✨ Personally, I am fascinated by these dynamic international marketplaces, where innovations are unveiled to set the stage for global progress. 🚀 Wolfram Diener, President & CEO of Messe Düsseldorf GmbH, shares his insights on this topic in his latest editorial. 📘 #TradeFairs #Innovation #MesseDüsseldorf
Trade fairs are where innovation comes to life. 💡 From here, they are launched into the world, where they make a positive impact far beyond their industry. 🌍 Encounters between people from different nations and disciplines combined with digital formats make this possible. For us as trade fair organizers, this means a considerable responsibility. We focus on the social, economic and ecological challenges of our time. Together for a fairer, healthier, and more sustainable future! 🌟🤝 In his editorial Wolfram Diener, President & CEO Messe Düsseldorf, explains our approach – right in line with the promise contained in the UN’s 2030 Agenda to “leave no one behind”: https://lnkd.in/e7ygxHwa #LeaveNoOneBehind #messedüsseldorf #innovation #participation #future #responsibility

Thank you glasstec – International Trade Fair for providing space for a critical thought at the kickoff of the industry's most important fair. The glass industry has started to, and must continue to show that industries can redefine themselves into net-zero energy offtakers, carbon sinks and decarbonization agents. Whatever the current political debate implies, it will protect them from much of the systemic risks that are building up across industry portfolios, and ensure its long-term viability.
Great lecture during the opening of the glasstec – International Trade Fair today given by Prof Prof. Dr. Martin R. Stuchtey about sustainability, our use of resources, nature as an asset and opportunities to help to secure our planet.

Sustainability as the key to the future 🌍 Sustainability isn’t just a trend; it’s a cornerstone of our strategy. At Koelnmesse, we embrace innovative solutions to reduce our ecological footprint and create forward-looking events. 🌱 A recent study of German companies shows we’re on the right track: The consultancy ServiceValue and the F.A.Z. Institut have recognised us as a “Pioneer in Sustainability 2024” in the trade fair locations category. 🏆 This accolade was based on an AI-powered reputation analysis of approximately 15,000 companies across several hundred million online sources – including news sites, social media channels, blogs, and forums – between October 2022 and October 2024. 📊 Being a pioneer means taking responsibility and working hand in hand with our partners to develop sustainable solutions. After all, trade fairs are not just meeting places for industries – they can also be drivers of sustainable progress. 🤝 #koelnmesse #tradefairer #natureeventscommunity #nachhaltigemesse #sustainableevents #sustainabletradefair

Who's the driving force behind STEP? 🌱 As our team works toward more sustainable trade fairs, let's continue introducing ourselves. Last week, we introduced Benjamin Low, and this week, our spotlight is on Arun Sharma. Who is Arun Sharma? Arun has been our Sales & Account Manager since the end of this April. He manages our customers by taking care of their needs and helping them with their sustainability at trade fairs. This dedication to connecting those interested in making the trade fair world more sustainable makes him a central point of STEP's vision: "At the heart of our mission is building a community committed to sustainability in the trade fair and event industry. By recognizing and celebrating sustainable leaders, we take crucial steps towards making trade fairs and exhibitions climate neutral. Our collective efforts are driving meaningful change, demonstrating that every step towards sustainability, no matter how small, contributes to a greener future." Let's work together to create real change with the STEP Team: Markus A.W. Hoehner, Steffen Klink, Jens Mürke, Ben Low, Svenja Putz, Eva Francis Benz, Julia Lünnemann, Mark Wilzinger, Jonas Koslowski and Kim Louise Wiersberg! #Community #CSR #CorporateSustainability #Sustainability

This year I finally made it to Almedalen! Every year Swedish society gathers one week in medieval Visby to discuss today's political and societal issues. Together with my fellow Baseload Capital colleagues Boel Stier, Gabriella Skog and Tony Engman I had a great day running between seminars. Top 3 take-aways: 1. Gen Z We still cannot answer the toughest question from the next generation "Isn't it strange that you can earn so much money from something that is so bad for the environment?" Leonie Stenberg, 12 years old. 2. Local challenges are the same everywhere The seminar title "Transition - please hold the line" said it all. Sweden is pushing the sustainability agenda and local socitieties as well as authorities are struggling to cope. It was the usual suspects: permitting time, local acceptance, grid connection etc. I see great potential to share best practices between countries and regions because the challenges are the same everywhere. 3. EU & US co-operation Last, but not least. My highlight of the day was attending the Twin Transition seminar arranged by AmCham Sweden - American Chamber of Commerce in Sweden. Marianne Drain from the U.S. Embassy Sweden spoke about US interest of increased collaboration with the EU on sustainability to reduce China's influence in the world. The green industry ,represented by Ola Hansén from H2 Green Steel urged the US and EU to collaborate and learn from each other. Today, one has a carrot and the other a stick. Both are needed. Charlotte Kalin from The Coca-Cola Company gave another perspective with operations and productions in more than 200 countries. Asking for time to breath and work with their ambitious targets all through their supply chains. Next year I want to stay longer and get more involved. What do you think is the most important issue to get a momentum in the the green transition?
