GMV participated in the 1st General Assembly of #NewSpacePortugal. The event focused on developing the Portuguese space sector and establishing its presence in national, European, and global contexts. The consortium of 39 entities aims to change the face of the space industry in Portugal by launching several Portuguese satellite constellations into space for monitoring the Atlantic territory by 2028. GMV is working on the scope of the "Very High Resolution" and "Digital Planet" work packages, where it will develop systems for processing data generated by very high-resolution cameras and sensors and other elements of the ground segment of satellite systems, as well as a framework for territorial management services and emergencies and climate resilience. So we think we are smart...? Imagine, you were transported back to 1924... With all your knowledge, expertise and technological awareness... You see someone using a phone, and tell them in the future we have phones with screens that fit in our pocket... "that's amazing, how do they work...?" Errrr... OK, well we have GPS so we can find our way around... "awesome, how does it work...?" Satellites and stuff... "what's a satellite...?" It's a thing with a dish that floats around the earth.. "how does it get up there..." Rockets... "how do they work...?" Errrr... In the future we have planes that can carry 100's of people from London to Australia... "that's great, can you show us how to build one...?" Errrr... Could you even prove you were from the future...? What knowledge do we have as individuals that would be useful and helpful to anyone 100 years ago...? Maybe we aren't as smart as we'd like to think we are...
