🌍🎉 Excited to share that I’ve completed the “Net Zero 101: What, Why and How” e-course by the United Nations University Institute for Advanced Study of Sustainability (UNU-IAS), affiliated with UN CC ! 🎓This course provided me with a solid foundation on the science of climate change, its socio-economic impacts, and the actionable steps we can all take toward achieving a #NetZero society. 🌱 Key Takeaways: ✅ Understanding the link between anthropogenic climate change and net zero ✅ The critical role of international organizations and treaties in climate action ✅ The importance of a whole-of-society approach for sustainable solutions I’m excited to apply these insights to make a meaningful contribution to #ClimateAction and continue my journey towards promoting sustainability and reducing carbon footprints. 💡🌍 #NetZero #ClimateChange #Sustainability #UNCCLearn #ClimateAction #RenewableEnergy

But for the right type of innovation to take place, incentives must be aligned in both the private and the public sectors. With this in mind, the “Green innovation to fight climate change project” aims to understand the role of the State, civil society and the market in the energy transition towards clean technologies. It aims to specify how these different actors could, together, encourage companies to redirect production and innovation towards clean technologies."

As we navigate the early stages of the 21st century, Africa finds itself at a pivotal moment, facing the challenges of accelerating climate change impacts, and at the same time, the opportunities that the Fourth Industrial Revolution brings.

On Wednesday 5 June, an expert dialogue at the International International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD) focused on the effects that climate change has/will have on mountains. The dialogue brought together different angles, topics and data on mountains ecosystems, which can provide great insight to those interested in the topic. Speakers reflected, among other things, on: - the importance of mountain regions in the global water cycle and the increasing dependence of lowland populations on mountain water runoff; - impacts such as glacier loss, reduction of snow cover, and flood events; data and research gaps, such as on mountain medicinal plants and invasive alien species; - the use of citizen science, for example to map water springs; - Indigenous Peoples' intricate relationship with mountain ecosystems in terms of cultural and spiritual practice, as well as diets; and - the importance of transboundary collaboration to accelerate adaptation efforts. ♻️ We support climate tech ventures to limit global warming. 💡Many climate tech start-ups find it difficult to gain investors to expand their reach and grow, especially in Latin America and West Africa. 🙏🏽 With our @CATAL1.5°T initiative, we catalyse 180 start-ups and young companies to scale climate technologies. For example Cirkula, which has a solution to food waste in Peru and has already saved around 100,000 kilograms of CO2 to date. Or microTERRA, which saves 250 kilograms of CO2 equivalent per day and hectare by growing duckweed.
