Just like that we're already in December! The holiday season can be a time of joy, but it can also bring challenges. For many, it’s a period of heightened emotions, stress, or even sadness. These feelings can make it harder to stay focused on tasks, especially in environments where distraction can lead to serious safety risks. At Inline Group, we believe safety starts with mental well-being. When we’re feeling down or overwhelmed, our minds aren’t fully present, and that can put ourselves and others at risk. Distraction on the job can cause missed steps, improper use of equipment, or a lapse in situational awareness—issues that can have serious consequences. If the holidays are weighing on you, here are some ways to prioritize safety and mental health on the job: 1. Take Breaks When Needed: Step away to refocus. A short pause can help you reset and return to work with clarity. 2. Lean on Your Team: Talk with a coworker or supervisor if you’re struggling. Supportive conversations can lighten the load and help you feel less isolated. 3. Check-In with Yourself: Notice when your mind is wandering. Take a moment to ground yourself by focusing on your breath or taking a few slow, deep breaths. 4. Set Small Goals: When things feel overwhelming, breaking tasks into smaller, manageable steps can help you stay on track. 5. Use Resources Available to You: Inline has just launched a new Employee Assistance Program (EAP) and Virtual Healthcare program, aimed at providing Inliners with access to an ecosystem of services to support the health of both themselves and their families. Whether you're facing mental health challenges or navigating the everyday complexities of life, our EAP offering will provide accessible and personalized care across the health spectrum—including access to therapists, financial and legal consultants, dietitians, career coaches, and more. This holiday season, let’s look out for ourselves and each other. Mental health is a part of safety, and taking care of it ensures we can all get home safely at the end of the day. #InlineGroup #OneInline #SafetySpotlight #MentalHealthMatters

Here is day 20 of the Full Beam Christmas Wellbeing Advent Calendar 20. If Family relationships are difficult Often at Christmas, people who don't always spend so much time together are thrown in a space and it can become intense. Remember that you can't control other peoples behaviour but you can ensure that people are aware of your needs and expectations. You can also control your reaction to other peoples behaviour. This may be through calm words or actions of moving out of the room. Is there timings or seating plans that can make things run more calmly. Remember it's not your job to constantly rescue or be a mediator. It's also important to be aware of your reactions. Do you tend to prepare for everything someone says to be a dig at you when it may not be? Do you tend to be the one to stir up an argument? Think about what effect your actions have on those around you. Do you tend to revert back to acting like you did when you were a child or teenager when around the people you grew up with? Go into the situation conscious of how you want to be now as an adult. Be aware of things that may trigger you to act a certain way and have a plan of how you will avoid this or deal with it when it happens in a way that keeps you feeling calm and safe. If you're aware of your behaviour, you have a better chance of being able to manage it.

Decking the halls with boughs of holly may be all well and good - but the festive period is not all glitter and sparkle for everyone. You may think we've gone all Bah Humbug. Far from it! But it's important for employers to remember that this may also be a vulnerable time for people. 🎅 A survey from YouGov found that a quarter of people say that Christmas makes their mental health worse, 🎅A survey from the Mental Health Foundation found that 54% of people were worried about the mental health of someone they know at Christmas. 🎅A survey conducted by the workplace consultancy firm Peldon Rose reported 49% of workers had an increased workload to complete before Christmas Day and that this was the main reason behind their anxiety at Christmas. So what can employers do to help? We've put together a blog on this very issue - we'll link it in the comments but also let's pull out the main headings here: 🎅Keep talking and listening (we say this about everything, for good reason) 🎅Be realistic about what's achievable amid holidays, family commitments, etc 🎅Respect boundaries - working late may just be adding to the pressure 🎅Pay attention to health. For example, flu is prevalent in winter; have you booked flu jabs? 🎅Consider financial stress - it's an expensive time of the year (for heating costs too) 🎅Connectivity; especially important if your employees are away from their families while everyone else seems to be socialising or gearing up for family time. It can feel lonely at this time of year. Paying attention to how people are feeling at Christmas, emotionally, financially, socially and physically, can naturally lead you to the right things to do for your people. Let us know if we can help. -- 👋 We are Verve Healthcare, helping keep your staff healthy, happy and productive with a solution for your #GP, #physio, #mentalhealth, employee assist #EAP and #occupationalhealth programmes. #healthcare #wellbeingatwork #workplacewellbeing

12 Wellbeing Day of Christmas: Day 11 - Dealing with holiday anxiety. This festive period can be a very stressful time for so many people and for varying reasons. It can be a huge financial burden, for some it can cause social anxiety and probably for most people it is all a bit much!. It's time to take a deep breath, try to resist the urge to panic buy, reassess why you are doing what you are doing in the first place. Why not write down 3 things that are most important to you at this time of year. It might help to recalibrate your emotions and reduce the building stress. #welshwellbeingcoach #christmas #calm
