Sexual abuse refers to any type of illegal or coerced sexual conduct against another individual. A variety of different offenses fall into this category, which is not limited to physical contact alone. Instead, sexual abuse includes acts of sexual harassment, rape, indecent exposure, forcing another individual to view or participate in pornography, and contributing in any way to the commercial sexual exploitation of children. Most states define sexual penetration as penetration of the vagina, anus, or mouth with a part of the body or an object. Ending child sex trafficking requires our urgent and collective action. We must unite our voices and take action to protect the most vulnerable and ensure a safe, just world for all children. This horrific crime subjects the most vulnerable to unimaginable suffering. These children endure physical, emotional, and psychological abuse daily. They are robbed of their innocence, dignity, and childhood, often facing threats, violence, and exploitation. It's our collective responsibility to bring an end to these atrocities and protect every child from such horrors. StatsCanada reports human trafficking incidents only made up 0.02% of all police-reported crime during the span of a decade (2013-2023), but many mainstream anti-trafficking groups are still making sensational claims to the media, like this real quote provided to Cambridge Today made to freak out parents. "Your daughter can be taken while you are downstairs having a coffee in the kitchen. And she's in her bedroom, and you think she's safe." Many of these organizations run campaigns that are not based on evidence, with a hyper-focus on sex trafficking and a constant push to "raise awareness," which makes them some of the worst offenders for spreading misinformation and manipulating the media and the public.
