BA Show Their Value By… 🔍 Focusing on defining the problem, user groups, and scenarios, over the solution and tech details. 🤝 Collaborating for a shared understanding, over coordinating team and stakeholder tasks. 🧩 Providing context to help the team and stakeholders "connect the dots", over controlling what exactly is documented or in a spec. 💬 Facilitating conversations with incorrect and incomplete information to get others to engage and add to the conversation, over creating perfect documentation. It’s not about being correct; it is about getting the group to engage and share a common understanding of the problem and solution space. 📝 Thinking about their role as structuring relevant information for others to use and collaborate on, over a role focused on documents, reviews, approvals, and hand-offs. 👉 How do you show your value as a BA? Q. 𝐀𝐬 𝐚 𝐁𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐀𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐲𝐬𝐭 𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐚 𝐮𝐬𝐞𝐫 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐠𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐬 𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐥 𝐢𝐧𝐩𝐮𝐭/𝐢𝐧𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧? Ans: When we have minimal input from the client, our responsibility as a BA is to ask questions to clarify the purpose, scope, and priorities of the feature. Even if the client provides minimal input, asking targeted questions can help you uncover essential details. When details are minimal, we can make logical assumptions based on our understanding of the domain and similar features. We should clearly state these assumptions in our user story and validate them with the client as soon as possible. Using User Story mapping technique we can help client visualize the user’s journey and can identify gaps in understanding, prompting further questions or assumptions. We can prepare a draft based on initial information and refine it as more information becomes available. This iterative approach allows for gradual improvement and accuracy of the user story. An example user story with minimal input might start like this: As a [end-user role], I want to [action or feature], so that [reason or benefit]. (Note: Assumptions about the user’s needs and system behavior are based on our understanding of similar functionalities in this domain. Further details to be confirmed.) Every project we work on is an opportunity to make a real impact by transforming complex business problems into actionable insights. Here are some key ways business analysis drives success: 1️⃣ Understanding the Big Picture: It’s about more than just gathering requirements. #BusinessAnalyts 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗻 𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗼𝗱... 𝗟𝗲𝘁'𝘀 𝗰𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝘂𝗽 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗼𝗻 𝗺𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀. 1. Mistaking Business Analysts for Business Intelligence or Data Analysts: BAs may touch on this, but it's not their main focus. 📊 2. Assuming BAs are only needed at the start of a project: BAs are crucial throughout the entire project lifecycle. 🚀 3. Thinking BAs only gather requirements: BAs dive deep with business users to uncover hidden needs and complexities. 🕵️♂️ 4. Believing the BA role is mainly about communication: While communication is key, the essence of a BA's role is in listening and understanding. 👂💡 5. Assuming BAs define project scope: Scope definition is the responsibility of the Project Manager, with input from the BA. Misunderstandings about scope can lead to misplaced blame, but final decisions rest with the PM. 🗂️ How else do you think BAs are misunderstood? Let's discuss it! 💬 #businessanalysis #projectmanagement #misconceptions #businessanalyst #bamisconceptions
