Here there are many challenges though: rapid rural-to-urban migration, changing disease patterns, changing needs and expectations of patients/clients as a result of increased economic capacity and lifestyle changes and needs, a burgeoning private sector primarily motivated by profit and a host of other social, economic, climatological and geographical factors. These are pressing challenges that stand in the way of achieving UHC through the prevailing health sector system. Achieving the ambitious goal of UHC by 2030 is indeed going to be a formidable challenge also in view of the limited time span to the target timeline, resource constraints and the complexity of the issues that will need to be addressed. Consequently, hard choices will have to be made. In this backdrop, programmes targeting the most vulnerable with the highest impact will need to be prioritised in sequencing the actions to be taken. The Policy Brief has been developed on the basis of existing knowledge, literature review and expert opinion, and aims to review the relevant issues and identify the challenges and opportunities. The Brief puts forward a set of concrete proposals to attain UHC in Bangladesh in alignment with SDG 3. At East Africa Gate (EAGate), we are proud to support the Menstrual Advancement Platform (MAP) as Permanent Secretariat, working closely with Agence Française de Développement, የሴቶችና ማህበራዊ ጉዳይ ሚኒስቴር Ministry of Women and Social Affairs and Federal Ministry of Health Ethiopia and key public and private stakeholders in Ethiopia. This initiative is a clear example of how Public-Private Dialogue (#PPD) serves as a practical solution for: • Opening markets to private sector competition, • Driving the creation of sustainable jobs, and • Building efficient and inclusive value chains. By fostering collaboration between policymakers, the private sector, and civil society, PPD enables actionable solutions that address structural challenges, such as access to menstrual hygiene products, while also promoting economic growth and resilience. The work being done through MAP demonstrates the transformative potential of a well-structured PPD platform, not only in improving access to essential products but also in strengthening the value chain to ensure its sustainability. We look forward to continuing this work with our partners: • Ministry of Women and Social Affairs • Federal Ministry of Health Ethiopia • Private sector and civil society actors …to advance this agenda and deliver meaningful outcomes for Ethiopian women and girls. #PPD #ValueChainDevelopment #SustainableDevelopment #JobCreation #Ethiopia #PublicPrivatePartnerships Benedikt Kamski Louis-Antoine Souchet Margaux Chinal Virginie Arnaud Le Pape CARE Ethiopia CARE France Olivier Hart de Keating Christian Yoka Sisay Luche

What an incredible time we had at the #NigeriaFutureSummit 🇳🇬! Earlier this week, I had the honor of hosting this remarkable summit, which brought together young people, youth-led Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), professionals, and government stakeholders to engage in meaningful dialogue. We reflected on both the achievements and challenges that young people face in driving sustainable development across various states in Nigeria. The conversations were rich and forward-thinking, as we collectively charted a course for actionable plans toward a more sustainable future for our nation. It was an inspiring opportunity to network with brilliant minds, and true to the theme of the day, “Empowering Youth Civil Societies to Build Stronger Communities” we left the event with strengthened connections and the foundation for lasting partnerships. As a menstrual health and hygiene advocate, I was particularly excited when one changemaker raised a crucial concern about sustainable menstrual management in the context of #ClimateChange. This issue has been at the forefront of my thoughts, and I look forward to potential collaborations aimed at addressing this important challenge. I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to the amazing audience for their commitment to this cause, and to the Nigeria Youth SDGs Network and Auswärtiges Amt (Federal Foreign Office) Germany for this brilliant initiative . ✨My health, my right! #WorldHealthDay 💪 Pakistan faces significant challenges related to poverty, calling for urgent action to implement essential social protection measures and expand health coverage. At #GIZPakistan, we are dedicated to assisting Pakistan in improving access to public health services, especially for marginalised groups like women and persons with disabilities. 🤝 In partnership with local stakeholders, we are actively working to turn the vision of universal health coverage into reality. Supported by Germany and Team Europe, we are standing #ShanaBashana (shoulder to shoulder) with the Government of Pakistan to drive structural reforms addressing poverty and inequality. In 2022, our efforts made a substantial impact on health coverage: ➡ Around 5.2 million people, including over 2.5 million women, benefited from improved access to healthcare services. ➡Over 165 million people benefitted from financial risk protection in relation to general healthcare. ➡Around 148,000 people received basic social protection. Together, let us build a healthier, more resilient Pakistan! 📢 #Worldhealthday #Healthcare #SocialProtection #GIZPakistan 🔔Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ)
