Ever wondered how sustainability can transform a heritage site? Here’s how it was done at the Manas Tiger Reserve, a #UNESCO World Heritage Site. Earlier, I had shared the story of one of my vintage projects, my first compete space done with #Engineered #Bamboo, way back in 2007. Today, I jump to a recent milestone in the Assam Ergo journey towards producing standalone lifestyle products based on sustainable design. The Manas Heritage Centre, located within Manas Tiger Reserve, in Assam, India, is a project that beautifully integrated modern functionality and aesthetics with eco-friendly materials and sustainable construction methods - from using storm-felled tree trunks for construction to jute ropes hand-spun by mahouts for decoration. We contributed with the interior and landscape furniture for the Manas Heritage Centre. The project was inaugurated by His #Excellency, the #Governor of Assam, on World Tiger Day 2023, symbolizing a step forward in sustainable heritage conservation. At Assam Ergo, we believe that #sustainability goes beyond just using eco-friendly materials—it's about creating #aspiring #spaces and #products that resonate with their surroundings and delight their users for years on end, a generation to come even. The furniture and fixtures for the Manas Heritage Centre, crafted from engineered bamboo and mild steel, are a testament to this philosophy. As we continue to blend #innovation with #functionality using industrially transformed #biomaterials, we invite you to join us on this journey of creating meaningful, sustainable spaces, and products that inspire. I’d love to hear what you think. Let’s work together towards creating spaces that respect and enhance their environments. Redefining Residential Spaces in India India's residential architecture is a rich blend of tradition and innovation. From sprawling courtyards that honor cultural roots to modern, sustainable designs that embrace the future, every home tells a unique story. As an architectural designer, I believe homes should go beyond aesthetics—they should reflect the people living in them, adapt to their needs, and harmonize with the environment. In India, where diversity in lifestyle and climate shapes our housing, the challenge is designing spaces that are both functional and meaningful. Whether it's optimizing compact urban apartments or crafting luxurious villas, the goal is the same: to create spaces that feel like home. I’m passionate about exploring design solutions that balance tradition, innovation, and sustainability in Indian homes. Let’s connect to exchange ideas or collaborate on crafting the future of residential spaces! #ResidentialDesign #ArchitectureInIndia #SustainableLiving

Are you ready to transform your home into a modern sanctuary? At Ongrid, we specialize in turning cookie-cutter spaces into personalized havens. Let’s take a glimpse into our recent project with the Patwari family in Mumbai. They sought to renovate their compact 3BHK apartment, and we were thrilled to guide them through the journey. Facing the challenges of a boxy layout, restricted natural light, and limited functionality, we worked closely with the Patwaris to envision an open-concept style that maximized both space and light. By removing unnecessary walls, we connected living areas and created multifunctional zones that adapt to their lifestyle. Our approach included: - **Open, Airy Layouts**: Enhancing airflow and light with a cohesive design. - **Multifunctional Zones**: Crafting flexible spaces that meet evolving needs. - **Personalized Solutions**: Designing custom features aligned with the family’s tastes. - **Smarter Lighting Design**: Strategically placing lights to optimize energy use. Through thorough consultations and expert guidance, we established a cohesive strategy that transformed the living environment while maintaining practical functionality. If you're looking to unlock the full potential of your space, reach out to us today. Let's realize your vision together. Eco-Friendly Home Design: Upcycling for Sustainable Home Design Upcycling in architecture offers a sustainable way to reduce waste by reimagining discarded materials into valuable new resources. Unlike recycling, which breaks down materials, upcycling preserves their character and functionality, creating unique and eco-friendly designs. This approach shifts us from a linear consumption model to a circular one, emphasizing reuse and regeneration. A prime example of upcycling is the Blue House in Pune, designed by Studio Alternatives. Built-in under 1000 sq. ft., it repurposes shipping containers, discarded thermocol packaging, and salvaged stones and tiles. The home’s interiors showcase creatively reused materials like antique glass and old doors, all while maintaining ecological consciousness and a modular design for easy movement. The Blue House highlights how upcycling not only promotes sustainability but also celebrates the history and value of materials, offering a model for a future where homes are built from the resources we already have. —-- Check out how the ‘Blue House’ integrates the upcycled materials in the house in our detailed videos and eBook in the link below: https://lnkd.in/gcNnS2sc Designed by: Studio Alternatives Principal Architect: Dhara Kabaria & Sonali Phadke Video Editing: Ar.
