Lettuce sepals are the leaf-like structures that protect the developing flower buds before they open. These structures are part of the flower's outer whorl, known as the calyx, and play a crucial role in safeguarding the young florets of the lettuce plant. In lettuce, sepals are typically green and resemble small, leaf-like appendages. #Crops

𝗘𝗰𝗵𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗮 ‘ 𝗟𝗼𝗹𝗮 ‘ 📸 @fortheloveofsucculent ( ig ) “ Lola' (bred by famed Echeveria hybridizer Dick Wright): A gorgeous result of the cross E. lilacina x E. 'Deresina'. Its thick layer of farina (epicuticular wax) gives this sturdy rosette the appearance of pearlescent marble with rosy, blushing undertones. Echeveria need bright sunlight to maintain their colors and compact rosette form. They will not survive a hard frost, but if there is a risk of freezing temperatures they can be brought indoors to grow on a sunny window sill or under a grow light. Like most succulents, they need great drainage and infrequent water to prevent rot. Pick containers with drainage holes and use well-draining cactus and succulent soil with 50% to 70% mineral grit such as coarse sand, pumice, or perlite. Water deeply enough for water to run out the drainage hole, then wait for the soil to fully dry before watering again. Also known as "Mexican Hens & Chicks", Echeveria can produce new offsets or "chicks" around the base of the mother plant. These chicks can be left to form a tidy cluster or removed and transplanted. Additionally, Echeveria can be propagated from stem cuttings or mature leaves. “ - https://lnkd.in/gGH7aWTK 𝗗𝗼𝘄𝗻𝗹𝗼𝗮𝗱 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗽𝗽 𝘁𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀, 𝗳𝗹𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝘀, 𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗲𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗳𝘂𝗻𝗴𝗶 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗮𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂! ⍗ www.plantsnap.com ⍗ #echeverialola #lola #Echeveria #echeverias #succulents #succulentlovers #succulent #succulentaddict #succulover #succulentgarden #succulentobsession #succulentlife #succulentoftheday #succulentlovers #plantoftheday #succulentsaturday #plantsnap

About Dahlia Flowers Picking a favorite dahlia is like going through a button box! The flowers can range in size from petite 2-inch lollipop-style pompoms to giant 15-inch “dinner plates.” Most varieties grow 4 to 5 feet tall. Dahlias grow in a wide range of beautiful colors, including white, yellow, orange, pink, dark pink, red, dark red, lavender, purple and black, light blend, bronze, flame, dark blend, variegated and bicolor! Dahlia is a genus of tuberous plants that are members of the Asteraceae family. The tubers are planted in the ground in late spring (around the month of May) and generally flower from July to the first autumn frosts. Dahlias are perfect for a border garden and make lovely cut flowers. Growing vegetables? Put a row of dahlias on the border, where they will not shade your edibles.

Understanding the Buttonwood Tree Buttonwood is a small tree or shrub that grows low to the ground and has tough, salt-resistant leaves. Its branches spread out in an uneven shape, and its trunk becomes twisted and gnarled if it's exposed to strong winds for a long time. Buttonwood produces flowers and fruit all year round. The flowers are small, white, and grow in bunches, while the reddish-brown fruit looks like old leather buttons—this is how the plant got its name. People often mistake Buttonwood for mangroves because both grow near the coast. However, they are different when it comes to how they reproduce. Buttonwood grows from seeds, while true mangroves use propagules—baby plants that start growing while still attached to the parent tree. #imagovtt #mangrove #buttontree #coastalecosystems
